Rumour: Sony Playstation E3 conference, what we've been told

According to the rep, Sony have some interesting things to unveil at the show. The first thing which caught our attention was 4 new PS3 exclusive games which are to be released later on in the year and early 2009.

The Sony rep said that Home has a few more features/additions and these will also be demonstrated. What these features are exactly, we don't know.

A new Playstation controller is also supposed to be in the making. Apparently it has a much longer battery life (not that the current controllers don't have a long battery life!), will be lighter than the current DualShock3, and of course will include rumble. A wireless headset is also said to be included in future PS3 packages and we're told that we could be seeing a new PS3 bundle in time for Christmas. With Resistance 2 being released in November, there's a very good chance that Resistance 2 could be part of the new PS3 bundle.

A new PS3 firmware is supposed to be demonstrated, displaying "In game chat". A few more "surprises" will be detailed later today, we're not told what, so we'll just have to sit back and wait.

Where are Microsoft's "new" games? XIII will be released first on PS3 anyway and it's not exactly new lol. It's a multi-platform game that was announced in 2005. Versus is still PS3 exclusive. Did M$ have ANY new games to show off at all? If not then this is just sad. Lamest press conference ever. Sony has FOUR new games to show? If that's true then oh my god. My predictions are God of War 3, Team Ico's new game, Uncharted 2 and a new IP.

FFXIII is still exclusive to the PS3 in Japan so i'm not sure why they're happy. Stealing exclusives and paying for exclusive DLC is all they're good for. They never make their own 1st party stuff so they need to steal Sony's 3rd party support to make themselves feel better. They're ruining the video games industry. They're just like EA and their fans don't deserve to call themselves gamers.

After the events of yesterday, if you don't bring out home in a couple of weeks to the public, your system is going to be classified as "Epic Fail" because Microsoft has beat you to the punch on almost eveything this generation, minus Blu-Ray and MGS4. I don't want a new controller, I want a fruitful online experience and some more quality (exclusive) titles from franchises that have long passed. Please give us PS3 owners something to look forward to today.

No. Microsoft's new dashboard is something huge that if Sony doesn't roll out any new online services or Home, will dominate even moreso. FFXIII's 360 version has caused at least 30 people I know personally to now pledge that they won't be buying a PS3 since they will get it on 360 instead now, which is a huge loss in system sales to Sony. So no, I'm not on drugs. Microsoft keeps delivering these devastating blows to Sony, making their system less and less noteworthy. How can you not see this?

I honestly don't get it. FFXIII isn't a ps3 exclusive, it's still coming to the ps3, but it's not exclusive. Because of this one game, the PS3 is suddenly an "epic fail". This is what people call overreaction.

I'm not overreacting; It's not only FF13, yeah it's a blow to Sony but Microsoft has a way better online service, new dashboard, more blockbuster games and timed exclusives on a ton of titles that a lot of people aren't going to want to wait 6 months to a year to play on a PS3. M$ even got Netflix to partner with them. That would've been great on my PS3... oh wait.

Sony keeps delaying and delaying Home, and when it finally comes out, they're probably not going to have anything truly unique to add to the PS3 experience. It just keeps happening over and over again. Hopefully in a couple of hours, Sony will be proving me wrong.

I play plenty of COD4 and Resistance. I'm not a huge online gamer but the barebones that the PSN has isn't something that appeals to me as much as Live does; it hasn't drawn me in. The new Store helped, though.

It's not about games that they're announced yesterday, it's what they have. The Last Remnant is exclusive for a set time, Star Ocean 4 is exclusive, RE5 has a 360 release date now, Gear of War 2 (and 3) is there, Infininte Undiscovey and Lost Odyssey are both great exclusive RPGs, and they've also got Fable 2 coming out. Mass Effect looks cool. There's plenty more that's making me envious.

I agree with everything Jkoz is saying. Much of how we validate the purchase of a PS3 is the software that is being offered. So, if there are FF fans who happen to have a 360 already and haven't purchased a PS3, wouldn't it seem logical for them to simply buy it on the 360 and not spend another $400+ for another system? Also, its true that MSFT has flaunted their financial power in most of the situations, but regardless of this tactic, it has worked to slow the progression of the PS3. Additionally, MSFT has always been first to the party (no pun intended): the online community, bringing forth an updated OS/dashboard, and the avatars. If MSFT is able to release the latter two before Home, then it's definitely an embarrassed, since Home was supposed to be released around this time (was that right?). So, for the disgree-ers out there, open your eyes to see what the situation really is. As a sony fan I hope that the 360 would get crushed for the years to come, but something significant has to happen to readjust the momentum shift that has occurred.

I find it funny that the Sony fans are shaking it off because every last exclusives list boasted FFXIII. Then it was said MS list is getting weak what are they going to do when MGS4, FFXIII, RFOM2, GT5 and Home hit, 2008 is the year of the PS3.

If you look on N4G for hottest games this month you will see FFXIII is number 6 which is higher than all of the other PS3 games other than MGS4.

Gears of war2 was the only aaa exclusive I saw yesterday, everything else was smoke and mirrors. They don't have a great 1st party lineup so they have to show more 3rd party multiplatform games to makeup their conference. I bet Sony show's more 1st party exclusive games than 3rd party multiplatform games. It's sad that 360 fans think that sony is dead because they gain a multiplatform title...wake up Sony still has the best 1st party lineup and it's going to take more than multiplatform game sink SOny. 1st party is what wins this generation and Sony is now on even ground with all multiplatform games, where 360 doesn't get free exclusives like they did their 1st year

if the four new exclusive games rumors turns out to be true, then Sonys' conference has already won in my opinion. its kinda sad though, because outside of announcing FFXIII as an "Also-on 360" game, Microsoft's conference was pretty bland. but people will never see nor admit this, and it will only deter from Sony's conference. Sony needs a major announcement. God of War 3 will help, but its still not enough. they need a headline grabber, like "GTAV exclusive to PS3" or something.
