Could a Final Fantasy VII Sequel Be In the Offing?

I completely agree, Sony really f*cked themselves over for that last stunt. Sumthing big better happen tomorrow........or 360 has just made the gap in the race that much smaller.

Yes, it was announced about a half hour ago that FF13 is being released for the Xbox 360 as well.

Yes, that would be awesome. He needs to be back and rock Sony's conference tomorrow somehow, be it FF7 remake, sequel, FF8 remake, FF9 remake... awhile ago they mentioned the three titles being remade for PS2 but it got put on the back burner, maybe if that terrible threesome got an announcement for the PS3, the FF13 wound will heal, somewhat. That and Kingdom Hearts III, God of War III.... Sony's still got some, but their exclusive have dropped like flies. These next 24 hours as a PS3 owner are surely not hours of fun anticipation, I'll say that much.

Agreed. I am really hoping for something colossal from Sony to counter the recent FF-13 loss, and no GoW-3 won't do it. It has to be something else entirely.

Its just gone multi plat - its not like its dropped from Ps3 or anything? More people get to play it.. fine by me. If you want to play sily kid machine wars, you can take solace in the fact that it will be a minimum of 4 discs on 360 and just one bluray for PS3...

If it had gone exc lusive to 360, I might have understood the reaction.. but it simply multi plat. IMHO its about the only raised eybrow you could get from the MS announcements for a core gamer - if you want familly titles and you like the movie downloads there was more, but there were no suprises for core gamers except this..

It will be interesting to see what the other two companies have to get our toungues wagging, but a game going multiplat is hardly a killer blow! I suspect they are saving up their Halo announcement for tomorrow to counter what I expect to eb a whole host of core games announced by Sony tomorow...

Yes, it actually is a big deal. A lot of people invested in a Playstation 3 for this game, they knew before it would stay exclusive, and now Square has doubled back and announced the prize they wanted for another system entirely. Those actually rooting for the PS3 know that this is a giant hit to the system and that this is one of the, if not THE biggest exclusive they had left up their sleeve. Now people waiting to buy a PS3 for FFXIII may sway the way of the 360, which will hurt Sony sales and in turn make the PS3 a less desirable platform to develop for, seeing as the install base for 360 is much larger and now there's less of a chance that people will buy a PS3. I know at least twenty people personally that were going to invest in a PS3 for this game and now will not be, since they already own, or will get instead, an Xbox 360. So yeah, this is a pretty huge deal.

Sorry dude, but I just don't see it that way.

Of course exclusives help to sell systems a bit (but not nearly as much as people would have you believe), but this title becoming multi platform is not a 'killer blow' and really doesn't do much damage at all if you look at the big picture.

.. I know it won't make me popular to say so, but the reason its getting so much ridculous comment is simply this: BRAGGING RIGHTS.

People simply don't like the fact that this title can't waved in the face of the 'opposition'. I assume most of you own PS3's?? You are still getting the title and it will be just as good as it was going to be, so the main reason you are piss*d is simply because you didn't want to share your toys with the 'enemy'. Anyone with any objectivity would see this...

I'll still be buying this on PS3 where i can have it on one disc. I don't begrudge anyone from having it on the 360, just as I don't begrudge anyone playing the 'improved' Bioshock on PS3.

Apart from bragging rights for the kiddies on the net, few real punters will be swayed the game being multi plat. If you are a real fan of games, you'd be rooting for Square to make the proper returns on the title they'll get from going multi, so that they can continue to make great games in the future. Its the game thats important to me - not which piece of electronics I use to play it on..

I honestly think a sequel is far more likely then a remake. They set up the sequel in the hidden ending of Dirge. It doesn't make sense to set that up and then leave it for so long. However there isn't anything to say that they wont announce both as they could both be part of the compilation of Final Fantasy VII.

its obvious, first off zack never finished genesis off, genesis is about to start somethin in dirge of cerberus secret ending, therefor cloud has to finish what zack couldn't, the angels arent done casting their judgement and genesis is jenova's final prophet.
