Battlefield: Hardline suffering installation issues on PS4

Dealspwn writes: Gamers who have purchased the digital version of Battlefield: Hardline on PS4 are reporting issues for the game's installation in-game. Once the game has downloaded from the store and the latest software patch has been installed, gamers are able to start the game as per normal. Once games are downloaded from PSN, they install automatically on the main menu usually.

However, that's not the end of the installation for Battlefield: Hardline. My own experience so far with a digital copy has been matched with multiple reports appearing online right now. On the game's main menu, they are seeing a screen like the one below.

Multiplayer does not appear yet and only Episodes are selectable. Diving in, I found I was able to play the brief prologue level before being kicked back to the menu as the rest of the game has yet to be 'installed'.

Uh-oh, here we go again!

So annoying when games are released as clients on consoles. Title updates were supposed to be convenient, but we shouldn't have to switch on a game to find that it then has to install most of its content surely.

HammadTheBeast3691d ago (Edited 3691d ago )

I don't know, I had no issues personally with mine. This has been the best launch for Battlefield in recent years for me.

And yes, I know this is just me, and others may have different issues.

Edit:

Just reread the article, wtf is this?

This isn't a Battlefield Hardline problem, it's slow download rates on PSN. The game is still downloading in the background, if you press Game Information and check the download status, it should be around 40gb before the whole game is playable. Obviously the game is downloading which is why the install thing is so slow. Goddamn, how is this a newsworthy article? At least do some sort of research on what you're making 9 paragraphs about.

Activemessiah3691d ago

Well of course it is, it's a Battlefield game... did you not expect issues?

yarbie10003691d ago

Installed on XBO & PC here no problems

Moldiver3691d ago

None of my friends who have it have mentioned any probs. I cant wait to get it on friday. Getting EA access at the same time.

OUROSMAG3691d ago

Installed on my PS4 with zero issues as well..

Antifan3691d ago

Bring on the install wars!

Moldiver3689d ago

so called news huh? If you would press options and go to information at the bottom, it tells you how much has been installed and whats left...You just don't find any download in the ps4 download list, as it's doing it on the background.

bggriffiths3691d ago

The news, if you actually read the article, is that it's taking hours to install for some people. Way longer than it should.

VaporCell3691d ago

Like I said, it's not gonna be in the download list where the author is looking, it's on information when you press options on the game before starting it...Having slow PSN downloads from time to time is nothing new.

HammadTheBeast3691d ago

That's not a game problem, it doesn't install until a large portion of the game is downloaded. That is why it's so slow. If you play any downloaded game, GTA V, Assassins Creed etc. similar install times happen until it is fully downloaded.

DragoonsScaleLegends3691d ago

I still don't understand whos horrible idea it was to make games install in-game instead of before you launch the game like on PS3. They actually take longer to install than my PS3 games which is crazy considering how Sony said they were supposedly improving this experience on PS4.

HammadTheBeast3691d ago

I assume you're talking about digital versions, and the reasoning for that is the game is downloading in the background which is why installs take so long. There's no difference between install time and how much of the game is left to be downloaded.

the_dark_one3691d ago

just a quick coment here, wasnt bf4 doing the same? I remember it downloading as i played mission by mission. It was a bloody 65gb cause it was the premium

This was one of my harder platinums to get, mainly because the game was the beginning of the Battlefield decline, this game was horrible.

DLC for shooters generally splits the player-base between ‘haves’ and ‘have nots’, and it often means that servers became less populated and as a result, many dropped the game completely once that happened …

myDorazio172d ago

Yeah, kind of ironic isn't it. If they had released it a year later with the DLC part of the base experience, it would have gotten a bigger audience.

Hardline at least tried to mix things up for the first time in a while. This was pretty much the nail in the coffin for Visceral though.

The map were to small for a lot of ideas, riding around two streets was stupid

Cacabunga177d ago

Yet another great decision made by EA. They really know what they’re doing

just_looken177d ago (Edited 177d ago )

The vip mode was a great idea but the whole game had that need more time in the oven feeling. My only big issue with hardline as a whole was the smgs.

But vip plus c4 classic

GAMERJET177d ago

Hardline was my favorite Battlefield.

Demetrius177d ago

Hardline was fun af, nice size areas to get around in. Got a good 10 hours out of it because I took my time much as I can. Sucha good story and atmosphere

RavenWolfx177d ago

I didn't even know this was something that had been requested. A new Bad Company, oh hell yeah. Hardline? Not so much.

HyperMoused177d ago

Hardline was great for what it was and it had the best MP mode with the moving hardpoints, if you havnt played it the hard points to capture were vehicles, with points earned for how long you are in one, so its this huge mash up of ground warfare and taking out vehicles and getting in one and tearing ass trying not to get blown up...was awesome.
