CheatCC writes: "Sid Meier is a video game luminary that has long driven innovation. His games have always been marked by complexity, strategy, and most of all, fun. Civilization Revolution (Civ Rev) for the Xbox 360 and PS3 is no exception.
Since 1991, the Civilization franchise has been a cornerstone of PC strategy titles. I remember visiting my brother at Syracuse University as a fourteen-year-old and playing that game for hours upon hours. I was hooked, and there was no turning back. Subsequently, I've purchased and played all iterations on PC since and even had a go at Civ II on the original PlayStation. Needless to say, I'm a Civilization diehard. Admittedly, I was a bit skeptical at how my favorite PC game would translate to consoles. The Civ titles are extremely detailed games that take hours and even days to complete. Furthermore, as it happens with RTSs, turn-based strategy games are notoriously bad at getting ported from PC. Fortunately for Civ Rev, Sid Meier is at the helm; he recently oversaw the successful transition of Pirates! (another one of his PC classics) to the Xbox and PSP, so much of my apprehension was allayed by Meier's and Firaxis' competence. Thankfully, I was right to trust in their judgment, as Civ Rev is a completely re-imagined Civilization and a must-buy title for strategy fans of all walks."
Dorkly: "History is written by the winners, and that applies to games, too. While we hold up our post-apocalyptic wasteland adventures, period piece assassinations and Liberty City crime sprees on a pedestal, we would do well to remember the little guys. These underseen, criminally underplayed games didn't do well critically or commercially, but they were still wonderful experiences. Here's a small list of recommendations of unsung heroes of the PS3/Xbox 360/Wii era."
Alpha Protocol has some fantastic ideas in its conversation and story progression due to choices. I really enjoyed my time with it.
A spy rpg can be done with amazing results if handled correctly.
God Hand
Partly because I just recently discovered it and its insane.
What a gold nugget.
XMNR: 2K Games and Firaxis Games officially unveiled “Civilization: Beyond Earth” at a PAX East, which ended Sunday. The storied franchise heads for the stars for the second time in its twenty-three year history but the history of Sid Meier’s just-one-more-turn creation is as interesting as the games themselves.
March was a good month for bagging yourself a bargain! Hopefully we'll be able to find a few more good deals this month too. Here are a few of the bargains that FantasyMeister managed to bag himself in the month just gone.
After playing the demo Im stuck with this one.
This is the only demo that I played non-stop over and OVER again. Pre-ordered the game and picked it up the day it came out. It is a great investment, you get unlimited replay value, and the online playability works great with friends that have the game as well....
Most importantly, unlike other civilization games, these games DON'T have to take hours to complete (but they can if you want them to)
Why do we keep posting CheatCC reviews? Can we please stop infecting N4G?
