Console Monster: We Love Golf! Review
Console Monster writes: "Wii Sports was a great example of how the Nintendo Wii boasted potential for interactive sports games. Since then, many sports games have been released and unfortunately the vast majority of them have failed to impress. I’m sure many of you will agree with me in saying that the weakest game on Wii Sports was the golf, because it was frustrating and hard to master. Now Capcom (Devil May Cry and Resident Evil series) and Camelot (Mario Golf and Mario Tennis series) have released We Love Golf!, but will it be on par or stuck in the bunker?
At the start of the game, We Love Golf! only has one course and four characters to choose from. Fortunately, more characters can be unlocked in "Character Match" mode – a 1-on-1 showdown between you and another character and more courses can be unlocked in "Tournament" mode. These are the only game modes including opponents and to be honest, neither is very hard. Your opponents will get unbelievably high scores so there really isn’t much competition. Other game modes include "Strokes" – in which players aim to finish the course in as little strokes as possible; "Ring Shot" – in which players have to hit the golf ball through rings and finish the hole without going over par to complete the challenge; "Target Golf" – in which players hit the ball onto a target to receive points; "Near Pin Contest" – in which players aim to land their shot as close to the pin as they can and "Training" – in which players can select a hole and practice. A lot of the game modes work brilliantly well though many become boring quickly…"
