Sorry for being a debby downer, but the nemesis System is not gameplay, it's a game feature. Mordor's gameplay is a Batman and Ass Greed's mash-up. No innovation there.
No game play innovation? The nemesis system directly affects your play style, tactics, and overall experience. And it's never been done before. I kinda thinks that's the definition of innovation.
As for a mash up good luck finding games today that don't borrow mechanics from others. I'm just glad Mordor takes them and improves on them.
Just to provide our description for the Innovation category:
"Moving a genre forward in either big ways that challenge conventional thinking or through subtle, nuanced techniques to a standard visual/gameplay/storytelling formula is what this selection is all about."
Personally thought it was nothing special, Just wasn't epic enough and i'm sorry but that ending was absolutely terrible and the game in general was far too easy. Although the Nemesis System is a great addition and deserves the award but the rest of the game was very mediocre to me.
its march, MGSV is already goty for 2015. i voted for this like 5 years ago. im taking my votes back. .....jk, did playtstations win? i forget what i voted for. great work everybody.
There are a massive number of fanboys that spread lies, hatred, and FUD about Sony and Playstation on n4g. Look at yourself and dozens of others.
Every single post marked for Trolling in this article are ms shills spreading hate, combined with posts like yours that are all Hate towards Sony and anyone who enjoys Playstation.
Do you really think a remaster deserves to win GOTY twice in a row? I don't think anybody does. Especially when it is exactly the same game as it was before just prettier and smoother. New games deserve GOTY attention more than re-releases in my opinion. Otherwise Grand Theft Auto V would have won it undoubtedly because it's on more than one system, and its graphical enhancements are way more noticeable than TLOU R.
Actually yes, why? because everything else this year has been mediocore at best... The 2 remasters have been the best games this year which says a lot. I disagree that GTA looks better than TLOU remaster as to me GTA just looks the same with a higher resolution and i'm sorry but 30fps? really? lol that game should be easily running at 60 as it's not even very good looking. Not saying that they should but the other games this year have been extremely poor so why wouldn't they?
@ Welly you're talking an open world game running at 30fps... it seriously looks amazing when you're in a helicopter at night flying over a bunch of the freeways... it's a surreal feeling it sometimes feels like you're really doing it. 60 frames per second on a linear game last gen game is not impressive to me... especially when you compare it to an open world game with thousands of things to do and see...
@ jalva I see wgat you did there haha I totally am surprised it didnt on this site too actually. (;
I would agree that destiny was a bigger fail then the order. 500 million dollar budget and they couldn't deliver. so much wrong with it and they had so much time to work on it. The way they also hyped also probably didn't help. While the order was a bad game. I would agree that destiny is still up thier just for the fact they put 500 million dollars into it and couldn't deliver.
Dragon age is definitely goty, game of the last 2 years tbh. Smash bros is also without doubt the most replayable. Uncharted 4 is obviously very anticipated, but the witcher 3, metal gear solid 5 and the outside chance of a q4 2015 "likely 2016 I know" final fantasy xv release are all up there too, at least for me!
Should be just a load of Playstayion 4 games but i'll have a looksee. I voted for Smash but i know that won't happen because everyone hates the Wii U and other such bull.
Transistor is a really interesting title. It has a nice combination of turn based strategy and classic action elements that give the game an exciting but still relaxed tone. Especially awesome since it was free on PS+. Yet another of the awesome titles available from the premium service.
Dem title infractions! Must resist reporting......
Well deserving winners all around.
Gameplay Innovation
Nemesis System, Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor
Best New IP
Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor
Couldn't agree more!
The List is great, but wish Alien: Isolation, Wolfenstein: The new Order and Shovel Knight got some recognition as well
I disagree with GOTY, dlc and multiplayer votes. Mario kart 8 was robbed of best dlc.
Unity won an award, congratulations.
