If there are celestial gaming gods in the stars above, then I’m sure many people would be praying for a sign that 2015 will be a better year for gamers. CrossCode, a retro-inspired 2D Action RPG currently being developed by Radical Fish Games, definitely shows signs of being one of the answers to our prayers.

Set in the distant future where the MMO CrossWorlds has become a staple of everyday life, heroine Lea journeys across varying landscapes to piece together her broken memories and uncover the secrets of her past. While the plot and setting so far sound like an increasingly common anime trope, several other aspects of the game feel fresh and original.

Remember how there is or was this intense nostalgia for indie games to be all retro 8-bit. I really wish that the popular trend would move to more 16-bit JRPG type games. I really love that time of gaming and I think the JRPG's then were fantastic.

This game looks good, one more reason I'm looking into purchasing the WiiU.
