Medieval Engineers first impressions – Video Games Ruined My Life
Medieval Engineers is a game about building and breaking things medieval style. It’s available now on Steam early access and is brought to you by the same people currently working on Space Engineers, one of my personal favorite games of last year. If you’ve already played Space Engineers you will see a lot of elements carried over, such as basic things like controls, and the entire user interface. Blocks are placed in very much the same way with the biggest difference being that you can place blocks inside of blocks. This means you can do things like have stairs up against a wall like usual with the wall being part of a block and the stairs being inside that same block. As simple as that may seem, it’s a great feature and allows you to have smaller, tighter areas and buildings. It also means you can have two fences on either side of a block and they will only take up a single block, unlike in Space Engineers where they would take up two. There are a lot of similarities between the two games and it’s difficult to talk about Medieval Engineers without mentioning Space Engineers due to the similarities they share. A couple of new features from Medieval Engineers are being passed over to Space Engineers and the games are sort of sharing each others innovations.
