Gear VR Launches in Australia

VRFocus- It's been a busy start to the year for Samsung and its smartphone-based virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD), Gear VR. Having closed out 2014 with a launch in the USA alone, the kit has already released in the UK and a handful of European territories in 2015. This week sees the device launch far outside both Europe and the USA, as it comes to Australia. Gear VR can currently be purchased from the official Samsung Australia website.

AU$250.00 = US$195.00

Not too bad.

Hope Sony VR Morpheus would at least be around this ballpark figure..

It also features a Samsung Gaming Hub home button, which will let you launch the dedicated Gaming Hub instantly."

another one bites the dust. When will these companies learn gaming isn't that easy to break into.

but this one has such a catchy logo /s

DOMination-255d ago

Seems a bit harsh. It's just an accessory for their app on smart tvs and monitors. Maybe Samsung have bigger plans down the line but I don't think anyone is expecting this product to change the world, Samsung included.

There is no dust to bite... this isnt like stadia. This is for playing games either from the mobile store or xcloud or geforce now through the smart tv. Like playing on your phone or tablet only a much much bigger screen.

Too expensive for what it is.

2027: MS stops making Xbox consoles
2029: Samsung starts making Xbox consoles

j/k

NotoriousWhiz254d ago

You kid, but when Microsoft leaves, expect someone else to enter. Maybe Amazon. Maybe Netflix.

QuantumMechanic254d ago

Samsung is in bed with MS and shows latent interest in the gaming market. They are also a hardware manufacturer. It seems totally reasonable that Samsung is in a prime position to take over the Xbox hardware properties should MS bow out of the market.
