PS3 2.41 Update Adds New Previously Played With Tab, and other minor enhancement

GamersReports writes: "Sony's 2.41 Firmware is available for download via the System Update on your Playstation 3 console. Among the new ability of not bricking your console; the minor update adds a new 4th "tab" to show your last played game, time and date, take a Look.

Also, the "Crown" Platinum trophy has been transformed into an actual trophy w/ a crystal globe inside."

It's in the players met category, just click on one of the players you met and there is the fourth tab in his profile.

cool update. I'm glad about the tab that says what you last played. Cos im sure there are a few people on my psn list who just don't play anymore. But i can't tell who they are and i don't want to delete anyone that does use their ps3. So hopefully this update will let me know when they last played, so i can delete them

It's a last played with friend date, time, and game. Was in 2.40, but they did add a shutdown after system update.

Predator check profiles of people in your players met list. then you'll see the 4th tab. This is not new to 2.41

I like the shut down after update option. Did it this morning, went to take a shower, came back and system was off. Checked to make sure 2.41 went without a hitch and sure enough it did.

Yea it doesn't -- which is kind of weird imo. I guess it makes sense for players met cuz you could remember where you saw a certain PSN ID. I don't know...I wish they put it for your friends though. But I'm not gonna ramble on any more 2.41 is here!

This is only step 1 of 3 with the end result having web access just like xbox live has that we can see what our friends are up to with what games for some good 'ol friendly competition. Sony is only trying to give us, the gamers, what we are asking for. Microsoft did a wonderful job with XBL and the integration of games and gamers alike. Sony has to fill some very large shoes, but they are getting there.

...A tab on the profile detailing all the games I own and be able to view a friends game collection too. Would be easy to implement just by the PS3 checking whether a Game Data file is present and also stating when the game was last played.

It'd make it possible to offer challenges to friends, especially if you've met them in one game and don't know what other games you both have.

I got the update last week when I updated to 2.40, was version 4.00. Since you have the Solo pack I think maybe redownloading the game would give the update a kick and jump-start it. It should ask for the update when you fire the game up, you have to be signed in for it to pick it up though, obviously.

I don't notice it stuttering when I pull up the XMB while in game, and I also notice the store is still faster yet again, big speed boost with 2.40 and then a little bit faster yet again with 2.41, may just be me seeing things though. :)

The official Playstation site under the 'latest update features' thing, it gives you the option to download it. You just have to agree to their tremendously long terms of agreement lol. Lots of scrolling down.

The update is up for SSHD and all works fine. All work fine either with the 2.40 for me. I did't have any problems with that.

Sony is making progress with 2.4, but still needs work. Reading messages is still clunky. Custom music only works with games that allow it. Right now Tekken 5 Online is not allowing me to play custom music while playing games.

I was a X360 gamer for 2.5 years until the RROD. I was spoiled with Xbox live and marketplace so the transition to PS3 was bumpy at first. Sorry Microsoft if you had a more reliable system I still would have been a customer.

I know all us PS3 gamers love the FREE online service from Sony. Beggers can't be choosers although Sony is really making an attempt to match Xbox live. Competition breeds improvement so this is great for gamer fans!!
