Eurogamer:
"Released towards the end of the last-gen lifecycle, Saints Row 4 demonstrated how dated console hardware struggled to keep up with the technological demands of the latest triple-A titles. Despite numerous improvements over its predecessor, the game suffered from poor frame-rates and compromised image quality, impacting on the overall enjoyment of the game. While the wacky sci-fi settings, satirical humour, and crazy range of weaponry still allowed for enjoyable moments on both Xbox 360 and PS3, it was clear that the PC game was by far and away the best way to enjoy the experience."
Remember this year's Saints Row(opens in new tab)? Volition would probably prefer that you didn't, which might go some way to explaining why the studio recently decided to upgrade everyone's copy of Saints Row 4(opens in new tab) to its full-fat Re-elected Edition, containing all the game's story and cosmetic DLC and even introducing cross-play between Steam, Epic, and GOG versions of the game.
Unfortunately, that upgrade seems to have backfired, and players now report a myriad of bugs with their new version of SR4. Both the Saints Row Steam forums(opens in new tab) and subreddit(opens in new tab) are filled with players complaining of broken saves, crashes, and mods failing to function. It's also received a few hundred negative Steam reviews(opens in new tab) since the update. If it's succeeded in washing the taste of Saints Row (2022) out of players' mouths, it's only because it tastes even worse.
I wonder if Volition's getting reorged under Gearbox impacted the quality of their release.
Starting today, Saints Row IV Re-Elected and Wildcat Gun Machine are free at Epic Games Store. The free game offers run until December 15.
Volition writes, "We are pleased to let you know that on December 8th we will be upgrading all copies of Saints Row IV to Saints Row IV: Re-Elected. Plus PC crossplay for Steam, Epic & GOG."
Weird choice why all of a sudden do we get this change?
Also I'm not a fan of them removing the original game code from my library when I actually brought that game why not just give access to both versions I know the changes are minor at best but there are changes still
I hope there's a way to cap it at 30FPS in the future.
I'm looking forward to the complete analysis.
Played Saints Row 4 Re-elected on PS4 and it's hardly an improvement over my PS3 copy.
It's a shame, 'cos SR4 is totally fun & wacky, but IMO is probably up there as the worlds laziest port ever!!! ...SR4 RE can't hold a candle to GTA V and TLOUR as far as Remasters go.
Super disappointed! ...what a waste of time ;(
PS4:Blurry as hell (probably originating lack of AF like most PS4 games are),completely washed out, lack of AA,poor performance against PC.
PC:Awsome picture quality,much better AA,stable performance
Edit:I dont think the XO's performance will surpass the PS4 counter part but pretty sure that the XO version will have a superior picture quality.Much better and vibrant color accuracy.Reference is the past games. Most third party games have 16xAF on XO.Before label me as trolling please check out face offs.
The quality of the visuals didn't impact the overall enjoyment on last generations consoles. The game has never been about top-notch graphics.
