N4G, This is for those that lucked out with sony pulling the firmware off the servers. For those like me who didn’t get it in time here’s your shot at trophies and In-Game XMB. Simply download the torrent containing the firmware from this website. After you’ve completed the download

Create a folder called "PS3" on a Thumbdrive, inside the "PS3" folder create a folder called "UPDATE" copy and past the the downloaded update into the UPDATE folder, the file name for the update will be "PS3UPDAT.PUP" just copy the file into the UPDATE folder and then ur ready to update to 2.4.

just stick the thumbdrive into any of the USB ports on the PS3 and go to the system update menu, and select update via software instead of internet
