I hope so. This is one game that I'm eager to know more about.

joab7773547d ago

Yeah, it will be shown this year!

thanhgee3548d ago

Pretty sure it'll be announced this year considering John Gonzalez
(Guerrilla game's lead writer), has been working on this project for about 17 months (says on his linkedln profile).

Captain_Wormy3548d ago

Oooooh yes please! We need more dinosaurs in video games. Less zombies more dinos.

peterdawa3548d ago

Ive felt that the team need a kojima like director to truly harness their talent. Their games are good but not yet great yet you can see how extremely talented the team is. I would love to see what they could do with the last of us directors guiding them.

chrish19903548d ago

This is actually a really good point, something I've often thought about, though a little differently. Basically, I've always thought that blockbuster, story driven games could use the likes of movie directors. So for say, mafia 2 as an example who better than martin scorcese, or for an adventure style game like Uncharted - spielberg etc etc. Its not a diss on the current game directors, but they are very similar jobs, maybe in the future as the lines get blurred we'll see more collaborations within the respective industries.

Hellsvacancy3548d ago

"Spielberg" no, he needs to stay away from games, he doesn't even make good films anymore

And Mafia 2 was fine the way it was without Martin Scorsese's help

If anything game directors should help direct films, as most movies are poor these days, imagine if Kojima directed a film

Wh15ky3548d ago (Edited 3548d ago )

I kind of agree with all of you.

As far as The Last of Us is concerned I thought it was better than any film I have seen in the same genre.

I know it borrowed from the likes of Romero's films, the Mad Max films, 28 Days Later, I Am Legend, The Happening etc. but in my opinion it had better writing, characters, acting, dialogue and pacing than any of those films.

The only problem at the moment is that The Last of Us is pretty much one of a kind.

Films win over games as far as writing etc. for now, but The Last of Us has proven that games have a real potential to take that form of entertainment to another level.

Jdoki3548d ago

There's definitely room for some cross-over collaboration.

I was kinda meh about Silent Hills (even with Kojima attached) - but when I found out he has been working with Guillermo del Torro and Jinji Ito my interest spiked massively as I think they can bring some new ideas to the series

A lot of game development teams are run by people who have that logical / analytical background more suited to development. The creative spark is often missing.

If you look at something like Killzone SF, the OWL was a great idea and used the DS4's touch pad well - but you could tell it was developed as a game tool (an excuse to use the touchpad basically), not as a creative addition that could have been integrated in to the world and story better.

As much as I like Guerilla Games, their titles do tend to feel a bit 'mechanical' - they are solidly built, look phenomenal, play well, but lack a bit of a spark that a creative director should bring.

peterdawa3548d ago (Edited 3548d ago )

Good points, hopefully sony should realise that some developers that they have are good techwise but not so good in the story department. I would seriously advise them to spread some talent among their teams. Naughty dog seem to have atleast three brilliant story tellers. They should consult with the other teams.

thanhgee3548d ago

The thing is Naughty dog has two teams, one team is working on UC4 and the other is working on an unknown project (TLOU2?). I think it'd be best if they just hire other writers just like Guerrilla games hiring John Gonzalez who was the lead writer for Fallout:New vegas

peterdawa3548d ago

That makes sense. Hope the new writer will also be good though.

SoulWarrior3548d ago

Please don't be an mmo or online focused.

thanhgee3548d ago

Don't get your hopes up but shinobi062, who is an 'insider' has already said that it is a dedicated single player but has online elements such as co-op. Don't take my word for it though, but a lot of his predictions have been correct.

Guerrilla Games' Multiplayer Horizon Game Could Be Named "Hunters Gathering," Teases Leak

Guerrilla Games' upcoming multiplayer Horizon title could be dubbed "Hunters Gathering," according to a new leak.

Jin_Sakai277d ago (Edited 277d ago )

I wish PlayStation Studios would just stick to what they do best, making great single player games.

Outside_ofthe_Box276d ago

The core gameplay of Horizon is really good, so this is one of the few I can see working out. Also GG does have one of the greatest multiplayer games ever made in Killzone 2 under their belt so MP isn't too far off with what GG does best.

SyntheticForm276d ago

Hell, I enjoyed Shadowfall's MP thoroughly even though it had issues. Guerrilla have delivered solid multiplayer experiences.

Cacabunga275d ago

Oh boy. No idea why they don't want to work on a killzone it's a much more fun multi mode. -

__SteakDeck__275d ago

@Jin_Sakai First. As a business, you don’t just stick to what you do great. If that was the case, Apple would of just done computers and not taken a risk with iTunes and the iPhone. Also have you seen the cost of their AAA games like Spiderman 2? Sony is going to need one of these GAAS games to hit, or expect budget cuts to their SP games. We’re already seeing in the document leak, that they’re asking Insomniac to cut budgets.

Jin_Sakai275d ago

Their studios aren’t masters at GaaS and it’s showing. Naughty Dog wasted all that time and Resources just to cancel Factions and Insomniac's multiplayer Spider-Verse got axed. If Sony really wants a big GaaS hit their best bet would be to acquire EA or Epic Games. You need huge support to keep these games going with content and updates.

purple101277d ago (Edited 277d ago )

OHH GOD YES,, or at least some new shooter. finals was okay but I want more, spesh from 1st party

DaleCooper276d ago

Meh. You know what could be good? A new Killzone.

Magatsuhi276d ago

Hope it's not battle royale.

anast276d ago

It would be better than Monster Hunter, but I'm good with the Gaas stuff.

Up there with the top tier in the industry. Love Guerrilla Games - Horizon Burning Shores is simply STUNNING.

1Victor501d ago

Can’t wait for their next franchise

SullysCigar501d ago

Same. They nailed it with Horizon. The trouble is I also want a new Killzone! Can't I just have it all?!

jznrpg501d ago

I’m with you I want Horizon 3 , Killzone and new IPs

badz149501d ago

I have yet to play Burning Shores as I just started Forbidden West (bought at launch, just unwrapped last weekend LOL) and playing on PS5.

man...I still can't believe the graphics especially now I'm playing it on my LG OLED. that graphics and with stable performance backing it up, GG really is the master of their craft!

Vengeance1138501d ago

32.7M sales in the Horizon franchise! With 8.4M coming from Forbidden West alone! Truly a hugely successful game and franchise as a whole. Looking forward to Horizon III

Shane Kim501d ago

That's kind of a huge drop though. It's only been two games.

VersusDMC501d ago

One year after realease HZD sold 7.6 million.

https://www.noobfeed.com/ne...

So not a drop off.

Unless you're saying a HFW should have sold as much now as HZD sold in 5 years?

Vengeance1138501d ago

It's been 3 games, this includes Call of the Mountain. Also no, its a great improvement over HZD.

solideagle501d ago

lol you are comparing:

HZD: 28 February 2017 - May 2023 (6 years+)

HFW: 18 February 2022 - May 2023 (1 year+)

We will see if it surpass original number.

Phoenix76501d ago

@shane, 2 full main games, 2 DLC add ons, 1 VR spin off game, oh and a an official LEGO set.
Not too bad for an ip that's only been on market for 6 years

REDGUM501d ago

Wow, very impressive. I didn't know the numbers were so high for Forbidden West. Still playing through it myself

thesoftware730501d ago (Edited 501d ago )

Yooo, when I first saw that Killzone 1 footage at E3, my friends my brothers and I were like, Holy shit! When it came out, it didn't look exactly like it, but we sunk so many hours into 1 & 2.

I even liked Killzone: SF, it was a spectacle to look at, and even today it looks good. I hope they make a new one. Can you imagine how that will look, and they can get some modern FPS pointers from Bungie.

blacktiger501d ago

thank you fps lover, I'm with you

talocaca501d ago

Such a wonderful studio. They deserve all their success.

The Decima Engine is absolute 🔥 I'm just mad they have abandoned Killzone.

OzzY-waZZy501d ago (Edited 501d ago )

Kinda wish they move on from Horizon tbh.

potatoseal501d ago

They are probably working on mutiple projects. One of them is Horizon 3, but another is a multiplaer game and probably somehting else.

Imalwaysright501d ago

There were rumours that they were working on a Socom reboot.
