Amiibo have become a hotly contested topic as of late. Their rarity and supposedly inflated value comes with the bitter ire and rage of many collectors. Here is an account of the goings on from inside the madness.
TNS: "A decade after my amiibo obsession began, it's time I admit that Nintendo's toys-to-life lineup didn't pan out the way I hoped it would."
I own some amiibo for the plastic toy collection aspect. If you feel like you wasted your money on them, then let that be a lesson for you.
Tldr he over invested in amibo thinking that toys to life would have resulted in some grand Nintendo cross over rpg.
However Nintendo never said they were doing that instead it was the writer who got carried away with the possibility rather than the reality
Why would Nintendo spend millions developing a game that only a small percentage of switch owners can play
Amiibo are basically just physical DLC with a toy collection aspect. The in-game bonuses/effects can sometimes be cool, like Wolf Link in BotW. But overall Nintendo really could have better utilized amiibo.
Thinking plastic toys would be much more than plastic toys is on you. Sure you get a small bonus effect but it should have been obvious that it was basically a toy that comes with a dlc. Nintendo is good at making money off of inexpensive items. They are still selling cardboard for good money
As a Nintendo fanboy, I admit they are too scummy but this is not scummy, Nintendo sold figures with some functionality, and that's what they are, figures that you can use with some games, I don't know where the idea came from that they are the gateway to some avengers endgame scenario, where you use everything you have owned
A new list goes over eight of the the most useless amiibo, ranging from the Shadow Mewtwo card to the Qbby figure.
Joker, Banjo and Kazooie, and Terry amiibo restock for Super Smash Bros. on the way with pre-orders now open.
Gotta catch'em all.
