If you do not like Destiny then this will not change anything, but if you like Destiny this will give you new things to see and new items to acquire and upgrade. When thinking about DLC it is hard not to compare this to content rich DLC of mainly single player games like Borderlands, Far Cry Blood Dragon, or Infamous Festival of Blood.
Here, Twinfinite is writing that Destiny, despite being a T rated franchise, is full of dark and brooding moments that showcase the best of the team's narrative potential. They further write that, while Destiny 2 has not delivered as much as it should have on this front, Forsaken appears to be the big step that it needs to return to its greatest moments.
Destiny has amassed a small collection of Strikes. Check out how they stack up against one another.
I miss the Summoning Pits, bring it back!
Omnigul is still the hardest Strike even with the new ones added.
As part of the My Games Lounge look back on the first year of Destiny, David game has had a look individually at the expansion packs to the core game.
8/10 my balls...
If there was twice as much content, then 7/10 wouldn't be unreasonable, but 8/10 for this rip-off?
BAH!
Personally I like it overall.
There are gripes, but I feel most complaints are unwarranted.
1. Not enough content.
This DLC offers more content than most DLC for other games that just give you a few multiplayer maps and maybe some new guns. Those usually cost 10-15 bucks.
2. Having to upgrade weapons a 2nd time.
Most games like this that let u gain weapons randomally (Diablo as an example) justcome out with new weapons and armor and make you say "to hell with my old gear". At least with Destiny you have the opportunity to continue using your favorite gear.
3. Story telling.
Even though the story is easily the weakest part of Destiny, The Dark Below at least expanded on some things. It may not have done this with cutscenes, but it definitely answered what the Hive are and what Crota is. It also answered the question of what Rasputin is, which is something that the core game kept mentioning but never explained. So sure, the core game should have explained these things, but at least the Dark Below added some explanations to some questions that were left hanging. Even though it wasn't done with cutscenes, thats still a step in the right direction.
