GTA V PS4/Xbox One Ports Doesn't Have "Tree Animation, Issue With Ocean Rendering"

Grand Theft Auto V on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One looks quite impressive, although a remaster, it's still one of the best looking next-gen title available right now on retail shelves. The game features completely reworked texture, highly detailed character models, 2 times better draw distance and many other graphics/visuals improvement.

It would be interesting to hear what Rockstar says about this, is it a bug?

GarrusVakarian3857d ago

It's either a bug, or Rockstar flat out lied. This is what they said in an interview with IGN:

"Its something as an art team we focus on a lot break up the hard edges, break up the straight lines and you get something much more real. We then updated all our bushes, plants and trees with much, much more detailed equivalents and then worked on a much more advanced wind system so the branches and leaves blow more realistically."

Guess we'll have to wait and see. It's only a small thing, but it definitely effects immersion for some people, myself included.

RedSoakedSponge3857d ago

yeah. considering that quote, it must be just a bug. tbh i didnt really notice, but id imagine with this feature fully working, the game will look even more incredible! hopefully Rockstar are on top of it and bring out a patch asap :)

MasterCornholio3857d ago

Funny thing that the other day i was looking at the trees to see if they moved and they did.

Tempest3173857d ago

I havent paid any attention to the trees, but ocean animations work great for me...ive taken jets and helis across the water and they all animate the way theu should

IGiveHugs2NakedWomen3857d ago

I don't think most people will care.

How's the rest of the game running? Thinking about getting it, but my plate is full as it is and i'm not worried about tree animations at all.

Stardust2603857d ago

There's pop-in, outside of that, it runs as advertised.

MasterCornholio3857d ago

The worst pop in has to be where the fence is for the military base. Other than that it isnt bad at all.

CernaML3857d ago

The frame rate dips are pretty bad when driving around the city.... Kinda weird it only happens during the sunny clear day times. Nights and stormy weather look really nice and run a lot smoother.

Ps4andxb13857d ago

Xb1 doesnt have framerate drops like the ps4 does.

Its because the xb1 architecture is better at streaming textures.

This is an area where the faster ddr3 comes into play. Gddr 5 is slower at streaming.

CernaML3856d ago (Edited 3856d ago )

Uh no... The X1 suffers frame dips at driving AND gun fights. If it was a texture streaming issue then the PS4 version wouldnt run a lot smoother during night time driving, driving outside of the city or even in rainy weather. But good job showing how much you dont know what youre talking about.

Kivespussi3857d ago

Pretty noticeable framerate drops on PS4 when driving around fast or flying in helicopters or planes. Same thing on Xbone, not as bad though.

Nekroo913857d ago

funny thing is that the xbox actually reaches lower framerates even with less vegetation. Go to digital foundry

Kivespussi3857d ago

Eh, since either one of them can keep a stable 30fps it doesn't really even matter.

1nsomniac3857d ago

I'm almost sure that I sat & watched the tree animations on the PS4 when it first released. Some of the views in that game are staggering. Either way I'd be interested in what Rockstar has to say.

ps5fanboy3857d ago

Sure it will be patched.
... games these days, are like a pair of jeans in the 70's....

Tempest3173857d ago

In the 70's they sold pants with holes in them, only to send someone around to peoples houses to patch them up?

Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny review - Design of the Times | TechStomper

"Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny feels stuck between 2025 and 2002. Not quite enough of the past to be pure nostalgia, and not enough of the present to feel fresh."

Lol, maybe I'm becoming an old fart, but excessive violence in VR seems to bother me more than in flat games. Feels more visceral when you're looking a person in the eyes before mutilating them.

By no means am I trying to be a prude and saying these games shouldn't exist. I just play them more sparingly, need more breaks. I need some beautiful, refreshing & relaxing VR experiences too to balance them out so I don't feel so heavy.

I’m an old fart too. I couldn’t believe how violent saints and sinners was.
