CG Needs to be Toned Down

Part of watching modern film is being absolutely inundated with CG. It’s everywhere. It’s in almost everything. Not just movies, it is in TV commercials, high-budget TV shows, it has its neck in almost every form of visual media (not counting video games, because that’s a given). Sometimes, it looks absolutely amazing, like in the film ‘Avatar.’ It’s good that it looks so good there, because everything else about that movie was a tired, preachy cliche. However, there are other movies, like the new ‘Hobbit,’ where the decision to make the orcs CG just makes no sense and looks beyond fake. The consensus among people seems to be – stop! Stop making movies that are nothing but CG dumping grounds! And, not to be accused of following a trend, but there is a lot of merit to that argument.
