If Skyrim Met Dragon Age, We’d Have the Perfect Fantasy Game

UM writes: I’ve been playing Dragon Age: Inquisition for the past uh, 15 hours or so, and it’s been the first time I’ve stepped into a fantasy video game world (that wasn’t LOTR-based) since Skyrim. Bethesda’s game is arguably the best single-player fantasy title in history, yet Dragon Age has its own set of strengths. In a perfect world the two would combine to create a simply unstoppable force, though I’m not sure if it’s physically possible given the enormous work it goes into making each game their own way.

I liked Skyrim but for me Dragon Age is better in almost every way. The story and scenes are much better. The characters, companions and party play and building are much better. I like the gear and weapons better but it's close. Dragon Age isn't one open world but I like the change up. I love skyhold, and the war table.

The story missions are amazing and I like having actual choice. The combat is better and there is multiplayer.

To me Inquisition is exactly what u get when u mix Skyrim with the first 2 dragon age games. And The Witcher 3 may even push it further.

O yeah, Witcher 3, the next great, must have game/RPG after Dragon Age 3.

Yeah, skyrim has terrible combat. Its one redeeming quality is the girth of its open world. Any rpg fan not impressed with empty size and pretty blades of grass is going to be let down by the combat.

There's a reason skyrim is praised by the casual masses for its graphics and not it's gameplay. The witcher3 will show skyrim how to do both. Great graphics and great gameplay that feels "right". Not floaty and weightless like skyrim. That's not even close to "simulated real combat".

That’s just laughable to me. I think they’ve squeezed all they can out of an 12 year old game

mastershredder21d ago

"Easily" because they see mods, says the gamer. To heck with licensing, terms agreements conditions, etc. all you need to do is belive in mods. Yeah, so real superficial BS yo.

CrimsonWing6921d ago

Do people not want to play a new game? Like, I’d rather see 6 than just a prettier version of a game we’ve been playing since the 360/PS3 gen…

Popsicle21d ago (Edited 21d ago )

Yes please. Did pretty much everything there was to do in this game. Took a very long time and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Skyrim is one of my all-time favorites, but I would prefer a new experience.

anast21d ago

They might as well. So far, it looks like ES6 will be mostly developed by AI.

I don't want a next-gen version of a game I've already played to death. Skyrim was a great game, but I'm over it.

I'm Replaying Skyrim (again), and So Should You

Replaying Skyrim after 13 years is a reminder of the progress made in western RPGs over the last decade, but also what's been lost.

anast80d ago

I tried, but it's a poorly made game that insults its customers.

lucian22980d ago

nah, only mods make it decent, and even then it's bad, and this is after i modded for at least 3 years

Nittdarko80d ago

Funnily enough, I'm about to play it for the first time in VR with 1000 mods to make the game playable, as is the Bethesda way
