How to connect DualShock 4 controller to a PC

"I had a pleasure to hold a lot of controllers, but DualShock 4 is without a doubt my favorite. Not only because of the shape and the arrangement of buttons, but also because of pure practicality. Firstly - it’s compatible with PlayStation 3, so when I want to play a game on the older generation, I don’t have to get used to a different controller. Secondly – it does an excellent job as a PC controller, and the touchpad is a salvation in games that don’t have native support for controllers and require frequent clicking on some icons or windows."

My DualShock 4 works perfectly with my MacBook Pro via bluetooth wireless.

And now I just discovered that we can wirelessly wake up the PS3 with the DualShock 4's PS button.

Oh, interesting. So it's even more practical than I thought.

I recently discovered that if you plug in the DS4 with a USB cable it works automatically in AC: Unity and Far Cry 4 without using any extra software. It even has the correct button icons in game. Pretty awesome. I hope more devs do this.

What? Are you being serious.. That must be a new update because when I plug in my controller directly into the game with no software it just shows me general gamepad buttons like A and B it doesn't show X, square, triangle, etc.. Weird.

1. Install DS4Windows (DSDCS) program
2. Install bluetooth adapter
3. hold Share+PSButton, then release share...3 sec latter ps button slowly (If you want to avoid turning PS4 ON) Your PS4 light will start blinking WHITE
4. Open Bluetooth scan, there will be Wireless Controller, double click and !!!IMPORTANT!!! PAIR with "0000" four zero-s password or it won't work

HOPE THIS HELPS

you have to have bluetooth version 4.0 or maybe not that high, but it doesn't work with one of my old bluetooth dongles.

My old adapter stopped working so I bought a new one with Bluteooth version 2.1 + EDR and it works fine with DS4.

Xbone controller works better with PC. It has native drivers.

My computer hits the blue screen of death every time I plug in my 360 PC controller. It has never worked with this PC. I used it all the time with my old one. I tried downloading new drivers for it and no help.

There is something wrong with your rig. Don't blame the controller.

Varmint3868d ago

It's a driver conflict that causes the BSOD. I found I couldn't have Dualshock 3 drivers and 360 controller drivers installed at the same time because it would cause my computer to BSOD as soon as I plugged in the 360 controller. Solution was simply to remove the DS3 drivers.

@rodiabloalmeida

I never blamed the controller. All I said was that this PC hates it. Calm down.

@Varmint

Thank you for a real comment with helpful information. +bub
