Spencer of Ghost Volta: "The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth finds its beauty in making the morbid cute, in taking something adorable and warping it like a Barbie in a microwave. There are horrors of all kinds lurking in Isaac’s dark descent, but many of them are bright eyed and smiling a shit-eating grin. The strengths of these competing ideologies suits the game better than it ought to, since they could be considered symbolic of the eternal battle of good versus evil, which lies at the core of The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth. Isaac, innocent and pure of heart, must fight and kill his mother, who will kill him, as ordered by the voice in her head claiming to be God."
