Video games have many current trends right now, such as regenerating health, being released before they’re finished (Assassin’s Creed: Unity did a decent job at uniting everyone, while we make fun of its glitches), and sequels. Some are worse than others, but if there’s one trend that needs to die before it can come to power—Terminator style if you will—are those toys like the new amiibos and and not-so-new Skylander figures.
The Nintendo Switch 2 has set a new record by selling over 3 million units within 24 hours, tripling the PlayStation 4’s previous launch day sales.
Its crazy that it's both the highest selling console on day 1 and people can walk into a store and buy it with no pre order
A variety of new updates are available this month across the gaming platforms. Coming today, Retro Classics games are available to play for Xbox Game Pass members. Players who stream on the Xbox app on PC now have an additional streaming option with GeForce Now. Game Bar introduces quick settings, visual updates for Widgets in Compact Mode, and coming soon, Microsoft Edge Game Assist, an in-game browser that brings an immersive game-centric experience to Edge. And Xbox gift cards can now be redeemed for any amount via Xbox Rewards.
While i appreciate the gesture.... all of these retro classics have been made available everywhere else. I am hoping to see some other Activision properties make their way out of the shackles of the 5th, 6th and 7th gen. Licensing be damned... bring back the Transformers Cybertron games.
Metaphor on Gamepass just announced! O.o
Seriously, this is the best generation of Xbox ever!!!
We can´t catch a freaking break from awesome games arriving all the time!!!
Company skipped last year's event.
Not surprising at all.
I mean, they´ll be releasing a new console in a few weeks.
Wow, overreact much? If you really don't like the amiibo then don't buy them. It's not like they are essential to your gaming experience, and in most games they only unlock cosmetic things like costumes.
Hardly anything to get overly aggravated about.
I think it is cool. Dlc that is physical and polymorphism in nature because it is not tied to one game. It is mostly a smash bro feature for now anyway. Why was skylander and infinity raged on about? Oh because this is Nintendo. People critical of toys must feel pretty bad that video games are sold at toys stores everywhere.
Man did you step on one of these and hurt your feet?
I want Starfox, Samus, Megaman, and Link just for collectibles. I'm looking to buy a WiiU next month, and then maybe I'd use them in game as well. I think it's genius on Nintendo's part, looking at the all of their recognizable characters, and Skylanders' success.
These are an interesting concept. They are like DLC that you (hopefully) only buy once. Mariokart and SSB are the perfect platforms for these dinky little toys. This could be a boon for Nintendo.
