The real ouch was the wasted money loyal fans of the game spent for a day 1 copy.
This is a well deserved score IMO. This was a total slap in the face to ac dwindling fan base.
I was a fan I platinumed ac2 BH...but I no longer felt like an assassin after I played ac3. And never beat a ac game since. Too much focus on not assassinating but navel boat riding exploration just pushed me away from the game.
That said this mess of a game and the yearly drops making this game worse and worse on top of the parity and the major issues the game released with...just goes to show just how far these devs have fallen.

Try 4. It makes up for 3 being a bad game.

morganfell3603d ago (Edited 3603d ago )

I must disagree. For me, the story in 3 easily tops 4. In addition you recieve your first introduction to a traitor to the Assassins. You also actually had to train to be an Assassin. In AC4 you put on the outfit and magically you became an Assassin. Later on you train on the island but that was a little too late. It was almost frustrating that you were forced to take babysteps on things you already knew how to do.

Also Kingthrash360 stated the naval activities pushed him away. And as we know in 4 it was all about the navy versus 3 where it was present but to a far less degree.

I agree with thios score as well. On my scale a 5/10 is a medicore game and this title is easily below that mark. If anything they were too kind.

I think Kenway is the best AC protagonist. He started off as a gold hungry pirate. He didn't have to save the world and could of sold the key to the observatory.

As for naval combat, i looked forward to hitting the high seas and collecting bounty to build my ship (not a boat) to take on the legendary ships and take down the forts.

He deserved his place (although accidental) in the Creed.

EDIT: I will admit i was peeved at the person controlling Kenway not having a voice or face like Desmond, Still my Favourite AC game and looking forward to Rogue next year.

GiantBomb giving a score like that is brutal. One of the few sites I half-way trust.

Silly Mammo3602d ago (Edited 3602d ago )

I've played every AC game(2&4 being the best). I wish Ubisoft had waited another year for Unity to get it right and just given the new gen an upgrade of Rogue like they did with 4.

This is not deserved and this is why.

If we hadn't had an SC game in 2-3 yrs, it would be welcomed. It is gorgeous and I feel like there's alot to do. The problem is that we have done it so many x.

What the series needs is more rpg elements and an almost arcade batman type of combat. You spend so much time, and while it's better than its ever been with the leveling etc...alotll of the games have felt like u never get better.

It needs to tell a simple assassin story in which u start like ezio as an arrogant idiot, who through tragedy etc. learns to become an assassin. This is where rpg elements come in. Offer 3 different types of assassins...brute, stealth, and ranged. It could be brilliant, almost in a Bioware way.

In this way, ot would grab u. Introduce compelling characters u can recruit, actually recruit. The world is big enough to be a full fledged rpg...and by the end u will feel like u give a damn.

You blame SC for the reason AC having issues?

Two different teams,different directors.

If The Division has issues will you blame H.A.W.X?

I Played Assassin’s Creed Unity Almost 10 Years Later. It’s (Kinda) Spectacular

Shaz from GL writes: "Assassin’s Creed Unity is looked at as one of the worst in Ubisoft’s iconic franchise. But playing it nearly 10 years later reveals it may just be the best"

Do the NPCs still randomly levitate every now and then? Even years later I noticed they hadn't patched that out

Honestly I loved the PS4 ACs. I'd love next gen ports of Black Flag, Unity and Syndicate

Why Assassin’s Creed Unity remains one of the best games in the series

GF365: "Since the first Assassin’s Creed game, there have been entries up until now. There are more than a few titles that are far from an ideal stealth game. Let’s discuss why 2014’s Assassin’s Creed Unity is one of the best games in the series."

Glitchy as hell and flat story, nah this aint it. AC2, brotherhood and 4 were amazing games in every respective

Furesis673d ago

Yeah i would say brotherhood and 4 were the best for me. I have not played the new ones and Unity was my last one. Seems like i made a good choice.

DarXyde673d ago

I gave up after Revelations. Just couldn't bring myself to care anymore and I got burned out of the gameplay.

Definitely agree on 2 and Brotherhood though. Great games.

YourMommySpoils673d ago

A Ubisoft AC game that's not glitchy? That will be the day.

Knightofelemia674d ago

After constant glitches Arno being boring nah I am good I skipped Unity. I will always like the Ezio trilogy, Black Flag, Rogue, Odyssey, Syndicate. I use to love the franchise but now it feels stale and boring. But my list of favorite entries into the franchise will vary from other players favorite entries.

RaidenBlack673d ago

Odyssey is a really well-made RPG game ... but it ain't a proper AC game, even though its part of the lore

ToddlerBrain673d ago

It’s funny because, at launch, it was universally panned for being unplayable. It’s a great game that holds up today. I’m glad they fixed it.

staticall673d ago

The only good things i remember from Unity are pretty graphics and really good descending mechanics (even though it sometimes didn't make much sense, when your character can drop down from like 10 meter height onto a flagpole perfectly).

Game is glitchy to this day, i was playing in it years after the release date (with all the DLCs) and it's still broken. You had to reload missions too often for my taste (characters do not spawn, you fall through the floor, getting stuck in falling/sitting/aiming animation, hidden blade stop working, assassination target running away at the start of the mission). Story was meh, searching for all the treasures wasn't enjoyable at all. Coop was pretty much useless, i've beaten every coop mission in solo. Helix rifts were awful as well.

Not saying i hate this game or anything, but it got too many problems.

Assassin's Creed (i know it's a controversial opinion) and Assassin's Creed 2 are still great to this day.

anast673d ago

Unity was okay. I prefer Syndicate and Origins.
