Will the Xbox One catch the PS4 in sales?
What is especially noteworthy is that Microsoft has finally started to gain ground on the PS4. Previously, estimates pegged a 5 million unit difference between the two, with Sony's console taking a considerable lead. Now, Microsoft has closed the gap by 1.5 million. Sony's earnings report has revealed that they have sold 13.5 million units to retailers. Those last two words are important because while some sites mistakenly believe that the 13.5 million is sold to consumers, looking at Sony's earnings report suggests that it is in fact units sold simply to retailers (who could have them on shelves, or in a warehouse), or in other words shipped.
