Xbox One Sales on the Rise

Yusuf Mehdi

"The response to this wave of blockbuster game releases and new bundles has been amazing, and sales have skyrocketed since the new price took effect on Nov. 2. Compared to the previous week, Xbox One sales in the US have more than tripled, which is exciting as more and more friends will be playing together this holiday. As we head into the busy holiday season Xbox One led generation 8 console sales in the US for the past two weeks. Shortly, we will have sold in to retailers more than 10 million Xbox One consoles."

Almost 10 Million Shipped, and sales have tripled in the past two weeks, That's good news, I'm betting the "Temporary" price drop will become permanent. They still gotta do something in Europe with the price. Wonder how much is sold through to consumers.

AngelicIceDiamond3866d ago

10 million shipped is SHIT tons impressive.

FITgamer3866d ago (Edited 3866d ago )

"Shortly, we will have sold in to retailers more than 10 million Xbox One consoles." So they are giving out future shipped number?

@POG What i said is true, no need to take it to heart. "Shortly" means they have yet to ship 10 million.

It's another one of the Xbox Wire post that spouts a fact that has to be qualified by an asterisk. "*In the US, based on internal data."

U.S. only, i.e. not happening in other territories. Also 'internal data' that cannot be verified by external sources.

FriedGoat3866d ago

No need for the bad language.

ABizzel13866d ago

As they should be.

Everyone's sales will be on the rise, because it's the holiday season.

But in the case of XBO, they had some good games launch, they dropped price $50 across the board for the month, they have a ton of promotions, and they launched in more regions during September. So their numbers should have increased as expected, and now that they're at a good price point $350 they can make that sell that much easier compared to the forced Kinect bundle for $500.

TomShoe3866d ago

Before everyone flips out. This means sales have tripled since the price cut. That's on a week to week basis. Also that's 10 million shipped worldwide. Don't get confused by the PR spin doctors.

HiddenMission3866d ago

Shipped to retailer and sold to customer very different.

NPD came out a few weeks back and the PS4 dominated in the US by a large margin. Every early report has the PS4 still selling better in the US.

We'll see when NPD comes out again I guarantee PS4 will be in the lead again.

Just remember cats like Phil and Michael Pachter said the X was selling way better than PS4 until NPD came out and then they both shut up again.

So I would wait and temper and hype for the whole XB1 won in sales.

Kayant3866d ago

@AngelicIceDiamond

"I see the fanboy disagree squad in full forceful effect." - Interesting you say that but then use an article that tries to make 10m sold to customers mean the same as sold to retailers. Also this shows they are still not happy with the sold to customers figures if they are not willing to update it since January this year. Whilst Sony have updated their's at least 2 times this year.

http://news.xbox.com/2014/0...

@Tomshoe

Great point it's exactly the same kind of language as July NPD.

"Microsoft has clarified, stating that the doubling of Xbox One sales during August were for 'the last week of the month after Madden launched.' Basically, sales for the last week were a little less than twice that of the month prior, not the entire month’s sales."

http://www.craveonline.com/...

This also shows that October numbers were not too hot if they are already doing early PR talking about November.

freshslicepizza3866d ago

im confused, are people actually upset the system is selling well? nobody is forcing anyone to buy one if they dont want but look at the brighter picture, the more people who get a new console whether it be a ps4 or an xbox one (seems like those are the only two systems people talk about here) the easier it will be for developers to make games for next generation hardware. unless of course you want them to continue making cross gen games.

we should be happy console sales are doing well, not getting upset because we still have competition out there.

darthv723866d ago

Great. the more XB1 in the wild the more support both the PS4 and XB1 will get from 3rd parties.

not knocking the 1st or 2nd parties but they generally pale in numbers to the 3rd parties when it comes to amount of games made available.

A good amount of 3rd party support will ensure a healthy platform life cycle.

christocolus3866d ago

@angelice

Impressive indeed. Sold to retailers or customers which ever way haters wanna look at it,its still a very impressive figure.I knew sales were on the rise but I didn't expect this. 2 friends of mine got the SO bundle and its been getting some really positive buzz of late.MS must be pleased and i hope this means we get even more investment into AA games and tech. Phil and the team have done an incredible job in the past few months,they deserve this and a shout out to Nadella too for supporting and seeing value in xbox. Great times ahead. E3 will be awesome.

freshslicepizza3866d ago (Edited 3866d ago )

does anyone else find it almost laughable how the people at microsoft are just so eager to get some positive news out there? this early report to me suggest they lost october npd numbers to the ps4 again so they want to get the positive spin out there a day before those numbers get leaked. by telling everyone they are winning november so far they want everyone to ignore octobers results.

another thing to consider is how they keep saying sold-in to retailers, not to actual customers. i have no doubt the xbox one sales are doing well but this constant spin they do is getting annoying. every year they bulk up shipments to retailers so they can tout how many systems are out there and how they killed it during the holidays only to have pitiful sales from January to about April because they have so much stock available that didn't actually sell to consumers over the holidays.

n4rc3866d ago

Omfg.. For the millionth time..

Go look at any Sony report on shipped to customers and notice the asterix..

Estimated.. Because they don't fkn know how many have been sold through.. They keep using it because se people have been fooled into think the difference means anything..

New flash.. Retailers don't order more then they can sell in short timeframe.. It costs money to warehouse a product they can buy on demand..

If they say 10m sold to retailers, that'll be sold to customers within 60 days..

christocolus3866d ago (Edited 3866d ago )

@moldybread

So its wrong for ms to announce this? Or thank gamers for their support?Its funny cos when sony announced 13.5m shipped it was ok and I'm sure you were ok with that. MS announces close to 10m shipped and its a problem now? What a bunch of kids. Its even more baffling to see those not interested in the xbox one coming in here to make all sorts od baseless and baffling comments.

“im confused, are people actually upset the system is selling well? nobody is forcing anyone to buy one”

Crazy right? I actually agreed with you on that.

@hiddenmission

Get your facts right. Phil spencer never said anything like that.

@N4rc

Its so funny.people trying so hard to put a negative spin on this, if you don't want an xbox one or even plan to own one then why does it bother these guys so much to see it selling well?

freshslicepizza3866d ago

@christocolus

look at my previous comments, i certainly don't bash the xbox one or the ps4. what i am saying is the timing of it all. they announce this one day before the npd results are out. which suggests to me they lost october but want to ignore that by telling us they are so far winning november.

ask yourself this, why announce they almost reached 10 million now? i am not saying they shouldn't be saying anything. they need some good press but the timing of it to me is obvious, that's all.

i already said earlier its great imo they are selling well. it means publishers are not waiting for consumers to move on from old hardware. if you factor in ps4 and xbox one sales from just a year ago things are looking bright for console sales. something the media seems to sometimes think otherwise.

Vladimir73866d ago

I dont know if people on here realize that the most recent sony update on sales was 13.5 million SHIPPED. But when MS announces shipments its the end of the world /t

4Sh0w3866d ago (Edited 3866d ago )

I thought last announcement the naysayers said its shipped not sold so its gonna be a bunch of X1s on store shelves. I know what channel stuffing is but at some point the shipped vs sold to consumers doesn't make much difference because retailers aren't going to keep ordering more stock when they already have plenty to sell.

I don't know how long it will last but I'd expect X1 to outsell ps4 on occasion in the US, especially with the lower price and of course some amazing games as of late. I noticed last week one of the X1 bundles selling better on Amazon than ps4, the few times I've looked at Amazons bestseller all year ps4 was usually much higher than X1, indeed the X1 sales are split across more sku bundles so it's always difficult to make a decent comparison but again as of late on Amazon top 100 bestselling list, the X1 AC Unity bundle at #7 has been selling above ps4 only sku at #12, then also remember X1 has 2 other skus in the top 50.
http://www.amazon.com/best-...

-Obviously there is no way to know what the actual sales are but my point is Amazon is the largest online retailer, as such they are always a good indicator of strong sales, ps4 I believe has almost always been showing a higher sales pattern on Amazon and obviously has led NPD every month. I see no reason why folks doubt X1 having recent higher sales. Ultimately unless you own stock who cares?..There are alot of great products we all enjoy but they dont always sell more than everything else.

NoDucks3866d ago

@HiddenMission

I doubt it. Xbox One is top of Amazon, Best Buy and Walmart.

miyamoto3866d ago

sorry to sound so unimpressed
but how many times are we gonna go through this wishful thinking hype

what kind of pr hype do you expect from a MIcrosoft pr website, the exact opposite
way to hype an unknown future
I am sure they said the same thing last christmas season and yet there were tons of day one xbox one units no one wants to buys

gatormatt803866d ago

From the article... "Xbox One led generation 8 console sales in the US for the past two weeks."

How the heck does MS know how many units Sony sold for the past two weeks to claim that???

3866d ago
Kayant3866d ago

@n4rc

"Estimated.. Because they don't fkn know how many have been sold through.. They keep using it because se people have been fooled into think the difference means anything.. " - Right which is why MS has never given sold through numbers before oh wait... - "Over 3 million Xbox One consoles were sold to consumers in 13 countries before the end of 2013. It’s been incredible to see Xbox One selling at a record-setting pace for Xbox"

http://news.xbox.com/2014/0...

Yes clearly signs of there not being a difference between sold through and sold in /s. I mean it's not like MS/Sony/Nintendo/Pubs etc pay thousands of dollars for data on sold-through estimated numbers with trackers like Gfk(Europe), NPD(US).

"If they say 10m sold to retailers, that'll be sold to customers within 60 days.." - Case A spinning and BS right here. If that was the case they would have boasted about updated sold-through numbers already.

n4rc3866d ago

Ahh.. Class a spin by the guy that's only argument is they havent boasted about it so it hasn't happened. Seriously? That's the best you could come up with?

I worked in supply chain management for over 5 years.. I'm fully aware of how retailers order products and exactly what warehousing costs because that was my job..

Any buyer that's over ordering products that aren't selling are fired in short order..

Standard invoice terms are usually 60 days to settle a PO.. And any well run business will have them sold before paying their invoice.

Kayant3866d ago

@n4rc

"Seriously? That's the best you could come up with? " - Well please tell me why else they haven't done so if they felt the need to say it then and have not felt the need to do so for 10 months?

"I worked in supply chain management for over 5 years.. I'm fully aware of how retailers order products and exactly what warehousing costs because that was my job.. " - Yh really showing your knowledge there but saying sold-in and sold-through mean the same thing.

Again if that was the case they wouldn't pay for the data none would they have felt the need to use different terms in January and now. And on the Sony disclaimer. Well of course they are estimates, it would be hard to get absolute figures for anything like that is sold around the world. The point is the figures refer to different things either Sold in to retailers or Sold through. Both don't mean the same thing there is a reason companies use sold in and not sold through when doing quarterly reports apart from it not mattering to the company at that stage in terms of revenue, it is always the bigger number.

http://seekingalpha.com/art...

pompous3865d ago

It would be if it wasn't the holiday season right around the corner. All it means is they are channel stuffing so stock is there for the holiday shopping season, nothing more.. So it's really not impressive given the time of the year..

BeefCurtains3865d ago (Edited 3865d ago )

Lots of PS4 comparison and analysis on this thread... This is not a sales comparison, this is just positive sales news for X1, which is good for the X1 gamers. Not every piece of positive x1 news needs to evolve I'm to a fanboy argument...

Microsoft has made several drastic and positive changes over the past few months, coupled with amazing console updates and game releases. Then top it off with price cuts and great bundles, you can't argue that it's a good time to be an X1 gamer right now. This has nothing to do with PS4, and based on the content of this comment, I'm willing to bet any disagrees are salty PS4 fanboys (not all ps4 owners are fanboys or salty...)

Angeljuice3865d ago

Why can't they be honest and open for once and give the units SOLD figures.

Microsoft are so patronising, they think we're all idiots who don't know the difference.

If you don't take part in the race, you can't lose it right Microsoft?

Major_Glitch3865d ago

Lol. So...sales matter again eh? I wish the Xbox only crowd would make up their minds.

Athonline3865d ago

I don't understand why people really want a system to fail. If XBox started selling good, it is win-win for everyone.

XBOne owners will keep getting 3rd party support and Microsoft can justify to its shareholders to keep supporting the platform.

PS4 owners/potential buyers: Means Sony will get a few bundles out or will invest more into exclusives.

Competition = consumers' best friend

Keep on hating, sony and big n used word shipment alot but ms can't. In busisness world shipment=sold

uptownsoul3866d ago (Edited 3866d ago )

In the business world shipment may = sold…But to publishers shipment = nothing…Because to a publisher a console on a store shelf doesn't sell publishers' games…And don't forget Microsoft is relying on 3rd parties for most of their exclusives, so they need to get 3rd party publishers on board with the Xbox One. But that is made harder if there's a vast gap in 8th generation consoles in living rooms

Manic20143866d ago

I wasn't hating I was praising.

HiddenMission3866d ago

No it doesn't sold means sold to customer because it's software that's important and if you sold to retailer but not to customer then you don't move software.

The big 3 use sold through to customer to illustrate customer base. They use ship to retailer to obscure the actual customer base and all 3 do this when they're not in 1st or beating their competitor.

Don't try to spin

GodGinrai3866d ago

@uptownsoul

"And don't forget Microsoft is relying on 3rd parties for most of their exclusives, so they need to get 3rd party publishers on board with the Xbox One."

Thats an odd thing to say at a time when XB1, multiplats are considered inferior to PS4 counterparts. Especially at a time When FH2, SSO and halo are more compelling games than their third party counterparts.

Oner3866d ago (Edited 3866d ago )

@ HiddenMission

There is an exception to your rule ~

"The big 3 use sold through to customer to illustrate customer base. They use ship to retailer to obscure the actual customer base and all 3 do this when they're not in 1st or beating their competitor. "

Sony is that exception. They have shown to be the one that consistently shows Sell Through even when behind. The previous gen of PS3 sales figures released proves this. Which I might add they continue to do with the PS4 (even though not behind and could use Sell In #'s to make it look even worse for MS...of which they don't).

Other than that slight addendum (IMHO), I completely agree with your point. Well Said.

Angels37853865d ago (Edited 3865d ago )

As someone who works in IT\operations management

Saying: "in the business world shipped equals sold"

Is one of the most basic narrow minded observations of BASIC business I have ever heard.

My friend, you need to look into something almost EVERY major tech company is almost forced to do by retailers which is

"CONSIGNMENT SALES"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...

Essentially even if you "sell" to retailers you don't make your money until the retailers have sold it through to consumers. This is to ensure protection against a product being a total flop...why should retailers assume responsibility for a failed product of a manufacturer?

Microsoft got a lot of flak for this recently with their windows RT surface platform.

Not only were they using inflated sales numbers, but they even posted consignment sales as REAL sales....which is ILLEGAL in accounting (lucky for them it was never on an official accounting document that had to be audited).

Consignment sales are a liability until the date of sale. Only after the sale is made do consignment sales become assets and therefore cash in hand to a company.

Microsoft inflated surface numbers to make their underperforming surface sales look better than they were

This made it look like (to investors) they had more money in their pocket because people like you go "WOW 10 million shipped equals money in their pocket for 10 million units?!?!?"

That ended up not being true and a class action lawsuit against Microsoft was filed by top level investors.

also...for perspective. You couldn't even successfully spell BUSINESS properly in your post.

Just shows how credible you are.

aceitman3866d ago

But November 1st numbers shows ps4 won 1st week. So something is not right.

tiffac0083866d ago

The price drop and bundles started on Nov 2 for the X1. So its safe to say the X1 has been leading the US since then.

coolvibu933866d ago (Edited 3866d ago )

@aceitman

The sales of november 1st are actually from october 25th to november 1st. They said in the article the pricecut became effective November 2nd. We'll have to wait a bit longer to be sure.

oof463866d ago

I'll never get the "Hahahaha! My system is selling more than your system! Hahahaha" mentality.

Sony is in a position of power and can play the waiting game with any price cut. However, for those interested in an Xbox One, the recent price cuts and bundles have been great.

Buy one, buy them all, but most of all, enjoy what you have without having to demean others.

Riiiight so 2 weeks of good sales for the xbone because of a price drop and free game in the holidays along with the halo collection means they are getting close ? It will last as long as the price drop and they will still be getting outsold world wide, you know what that means ? it means the gap is still growing maybe slower but still growing.

You do know what "we will have sold in to retailers more than 10 million Xbox One consoles."

right? IN not through.

chrismichaels043865d ago

Sony announced PS4 *sold* 10 million back in August. MS announced XB1 *almost shipped* 10 million in November. How is that "getting close"?

You're ignoring all of the PS4's that Sony has actually sold since August. And it took two of Xboxs biggest names in the same month (Halo and Call of Duty)...plus a huge price drop to do it.

Its great Xbox is having a good couple of weeks. Congrats! But lets be realistic and dont get carried away.

Automatic793865d ago

Wow look at all the salty fanboys hating on MS. What's sad is that most only pop up on sales talk but when there games don't do well, or there online is suffering you don't here a whisper. Really sad how these keyboard warriors represent there brand.

chrismichaels043865d ago (Edited 3865d ago )

@MichaelLito - i cant speak for anyone else, but I have been very vocal about how successful PS4 has been this year while never once bashing xbox. I also said it was great xbox is showing strong sales this month and congratulated them.

Dont get over sensitive just because people are telling you to be realistic. Youre taking Microsoft PR spin of *almost shipping* 10 million consoles and comparing it to PS4s 10 million *sold* numbers from 3 months ago while completely ignoring all of the PS4s Sony has sold since August.

"PS4 games dont do well"? The Last of Us Remastered (95), Final Fantasy Realm Reborn (86), MLB14 The Show (83) and Infamous Second Son (80) are a few examples of PS4 games that have done very well. Youre the only one acting salty dude. No need to get defensive.

Automatic793865d ago (Edited 3865d ago )

@ChrisMichael

While my comment was not ment for you it is funny that you took it personal, or felt that I was sensitive or un realistic when in fact I have been supporting the Xbox one even in the days you felt that they were stuck at 5 million sales. Hope that's realistic enough. Lol, By the way no need to show your insecurity by posting scores. I think you can read and see who owns the holidays. Feel free to jump in. The collection of exclusives you can't find on PC are growing. Just to name a few Killer Instinct 2, Forza Horizon 2, Forza 5, D4, Sunset Overdrive, Halo Master Chief Collection, Max and the Cursed Brotherhood. Just for fun and to answer you back "PS4 games that don't do good" DriveClub says hello. Which by the way every game on the list that I provided is better. :)

chrismichaels043865d ago

@MichaelLito - How am I taking anything personal? Im simply responding to your reply comment. The fact that youre trying to single me out specifically after so many other people have disagreed with you proves that my true words struck a sensitive nerve with you.

"Even in the days you thought they were stuck at 5 million sales."
MS themselves reported back in April that they *shipped* 5 million units. That was 7 months ago. We are only just now finally hearing a new update from them. Dont blame me for that.

How am i being insecure? Youre the one that claimed PS4 games "dont do well". I proved you wrong by listing some really good AAA retail exclusives that did very well on PS4 (and even better than most of the Xbox games you praise). Now youre trying to backpedal because the review scores proved you wrong.

chrismichaels043865d ago

Doesn't matter

The Microsoft Xbox venture has been failure from a profitability and growth standpoint. They've lost billions and they will never recover.

Just so that everybody doesn't just think I am some Sony apostle.

The Playstation brand has been a disaster since the highly successful PS2 era ended. They're lost billions and will NEVER see that investment back.

Microsoft and Sony and now locked in a game of suicide chicken.

Neither will win.

Do not rate or respond without reading the industry analysis of how the console market financials are playing out.

THERE ARE NO PROFITS.

Christopher3866d ago

Who would have thunk if you cut your price to $350 and gave away at least one free game (if not more), you would see sales increase (read: price your console at $289).

Amazing. It's like they are losing money to make sales or something...

Alsybub3865d ago (Edited 3865d ago )

That has, historically, been the case with every generation that has gone before.

Sony and Microsoft have always sold their systems at a loss to gain market share and have hoped to gain that money back from software and services. Even when the PS3 was released they were making something like a $200 loss on every unit, at that price.

This is the first generation that they have tried to do otherwise and it has hurt Microsoft and so they're reverting back to the old formula and it's starting to work. Sony didn't have a choice but to have some kind of profit in the PS4, they didn't have the money to lose any more. While it is a more powerful system than the X1 the whole design and architecture was born out the need to cut manufacturing costs from the start. Using near off the shelf components and unified memory allows them to do that. The good thing is that because of necessity Sony has stumbled upon a winning formula. They now have a system that is easier to program for and is more affordable for the masses from the start and they're not making losses on every sale.

The only manufacturer that has always made a profit on hardware, from day one, is Nintendo. So, while Sony and Microsoft get all of the market share - Wii being the exception - Nintendo has always, quietly, turned a profit.

Christopher3865d ago

***That has, historically, been the case with every generation that has gone before. ***

That is not true.

***The only manufacturer that has always made a profit on hardware, from day one, is Nintendo.***

PS2 and PS4 both earned a profit from day one. Xbox 360 earned a profit on day one, but lost that profit due to RRoD and similar issues where they had to set aside US$2b for said issues. XBO originally was making a profit on each console sold.

The difference here is that regardless of the profit they were making, they were not getting sales. And, so, they spent money to get them. That includes chipping away at what was in the box, adding free games, lowering the price, and then lowering the price and adding free games.

frezhblunts3865d ago (Edited 3865d ago )

In my opinion, I think Nintendo makes a lot of money from software since they make most of the game for their console, Nintendo just started making profit from wii u. Ps4 amazes me because I own it and it really isn't too special yet and still it is selling like crazy. I just got it because I knew after xbox 360 I was switching to ps4 and wii u

Alsybub3865d ago (Edited 3865d ago )

@cgoodno

I'll just leave this here. Google is a wonderful thing.

From Merryll Lynch in 2000 regarding PS2

"A quote from a Merrill Lynch financial analyst today estimated that Sony will lose approximately $180 (or 20,000 yen) for every PlayStation 2 unit sold."

From PC World in 2006 regarding PS3

"With a suggested retail price of $499, that would mean Sony is taking a loss of about $307 on each console it sells. The differential for the 60GB model is less, with the cost exceeding the price tag by $241."

Christopher3865d ago

***"A quote from a Merrill Lynch financial analyst today estimated that Sony will lose approximately $180 (or 20,000 yen) for every PlayStation 2 unit sold." ***

Oh okay shipped not sold I was about to say lol they didn't sell 5 million in one month. To think they had to reduce it as low as 350! Still I will not be getting it, it is not a bad console I am jealous of sunset overdrive but having the ps4 and wii u I have plenty to play. Right now my wii u has lots of games I got to buy and I am excited for some games coming to ps4

XanderZane3865d ago

I was thinking the exact same thing. Hopefully, they will at least extend the price cut till the end of January. If they were smart, they would make it permanent at the E3 next year. It's amazing they went from 7 million shipped to 10 million shipped in such a short time period. They just need to ride this momentum through the rest of the year. A price drop in Europe/UK/Australia before X-Mas would be a smart move. That should help to move even more systems.

@Mr Pumblechook
You do realize that the sale is ONLY IN THE US. So of course it's not happening in Europe, UK, Australia or Japan. They haven't announced any sales in those areas yet. They don't really deserve them anyways since all they've done is bash and disrespect the system. I'm actually glad they waited. Microsoft is eager to take back the U.S., which will probably happen in the next 1-2yrs.

@HiddenMission
PS4 will probably take October, but XB1 will most likely take Nov & Dec. Phil never said the XB1 was selling better before the NPD. That was Patcher only. Everyone knows he's always wrong 75% of the time. People keep forgetting the Xbox 360 outsold the PS3 for 18 months straight in the U.S. Doesn't look like that will have with the PS4.

xtremeimport3865d ago

Ive seen a lot of xboxs being purchased lately. Price drop has helped them tons. CoD and Halo hasn't hurt either.

Can't get over how they're selling the Kinect standalone for $150 though. Thats just outrageous.

I'm not surprised. Microsoft has had some great exclusives release these past few weeks and some VERY attractive bundles for the holiday season. With no price cut or bundles for the PS4, the Xbox One SHOULD outsell the PS4. Microsoft would be in a world of trouble if it didn't.

Rimeskeem3866d ago (Edited 3866d ago )

Ps4 does have bundles plus LBP3 and a huge far cry 4 deal

@darthv72

From what ive seen of Far Cry 4. It looks really fun. And this gameplay i saw was not from the devs but form actual people.

darthv723866d ago (Edited 3866d ago )

far cry 4 as in ubisoft far cry 4? well that should be interesting considering the current situation with ubisoft.

you would think companies like sony and MS would want to deviate themselves away from ubisoft until they get their stuff together.

edit: optimism is a good thing to have. And i do hope FC4 turns out better than other ubisoft efforts as of late. Just have to wait and see.

DragonbornZ3866d ago

If i'm not mistaken the PS4 does have a GTAV bundle, which will be huge too, but the Xbox One looks damn great this holiday exclusives, bundles, and pricing-wise.

Masterchief_thegoat3866d ago

Walmart you get xbox one tmcc bundle for $325

XanderZane3865d ago

Xbox One will have a GTA V bundle as well. Probably won't be one in the US unless retailers offer it.

Really?

Who Is going to want to upgrade to a ps4 with last gen remakes games included?

I know ps4 is more powerful.

But the XB1 has the momentum with the better exclusives, better bundles, and price cuts thus holiday season.

I'm not surprised either they were timing it perfectly. Should be a big boost to industry as a whole. Even though these Ponies are made about it, which I don't know why? We want these companies to push each other, so it would be a win win for us gamers.

I wonder if Sony has "sold in to retailers more than 20 million PS4 consoles"? Or 25 million? As it takes a whole lot of product to fill the shelves of retailers all over the world and let's be honest Microsoft has only a couple hotspots for sales outside the United States to worry about and the entire world is a PS4 hotspot.

aviator1893866d ago (Edited 3866d ago )

I believe Sony's quarter financials at the end of September (thanks for the heads up, Cupid Viper) revealed that Sony had shipped into retailers 13.5 million consoles.

Cupid_Viper_33866d ago (Edited 3866d ago )

http://n4g.com/news/1613004...

It's actually at the end of "September" and not October. So from October until the end of December they will have shipped a few more millions.

But you should ignore the guy above you, he's clearly trolling with his "20-25 millioin PS4 shipped".

No worries Aviator.

On Topic. That's a lot of shipments. Some 4 million consoles shipped to retailers? Why flood the retail chains with so many unit? Last year, from November to December they shipped some 3.9 million consoles and had to drastically reduce shipments for the following 2 quarters. http://www.ign.com/boards/t...
http://bgr.com/2014/04/25/x...

Not that VGChartz is really anything to go by, but their weekly estimates for Xbox is 74,000. if you tripple that you get 222,000 units/week. Then if you time it by 4 weeks then you get a grand total of 880,000 units per month. In 2 months that's 1,78 million consoles. So let's say 2 million at best.

VGChartz best estimates puts them at 6.3 million units Globally, so 10 million units shipped would mean that they've shipped some 3.7 million units, almsot matching the numbers shipped for the previous holiday.

Are they going for a repeat of last year? Or are they trying to make it seem as though they've reached the 10 million mark they targeted at the reveal more than a year ago?

mhunterjr3866d ago

why would retailers have order 25 million ps4s? It's selling damn well. But having that much stock would be wasteful.

Spotie3865d ago

It could always be channel stuffing, like around this time last year. Which makes some sense if retailers are gonna be creating their own bundles alongside whatever games Microsoft throws out there.

XanderZane3865d ago

The won't reach 20 million sold through this year. The original Wii did about 20.5 million it's first year. That will be very hard to bean for any game console.

desertpunk863866d ago

i just got the unity bundle with nba 2k15 i guess the $350 price tag works.

Cat Quest III Is Heading to Apple Devices on August 8

"A big part of being a cat pirate is sailing the seas and traveling from place to place. What better way to do just that than by playing Cat Quest III on the go? Soon, aspiring kitty pirates will be able to enjoy the charming cat-themed action RPG on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. That should be a purrfect option for gamers who don't have the game on Switch or Steam Deck. The iOS version will still support 2-player local co-op, thankfully," says Co-Optimus.

Dark Quest 4 Will Bring Back the Co-op When It Comes Out Later This Year

"It could be said that Brain Seal Ltd, the developer of the Dark Quest series, is wishy-washy on co-op. Every other game is either single-player or co-op. Thankfully, the upcoming Dark Quest 4 will be one of the co-op ones. In fact, it looks like this will be the biggest and best game yet in the board game-style dungeon crawling series. A demo has recently arrived on Steam, and the game will come to both consoles and PC later this year," says Co-Optimus.
