GTA San Andreas no longer available for purchase on Steam, possible update coming soon?

The PC version of Rockstar’s classic, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, is apparently no longer available for purchase on Steam.

Furthermore, GTA: San Andreas‘ Steam database information reveals that the game has been subject to a a number of recent updates.

Might an updated version of GTA: San Andreas (with widescreen, Xinput, and Steam Achievements support) be coming to PC owners soon?

They just released an HD version of this game on the Xbox Marketplace.

DesertFoxJr3879d ago

Yup, addressed in the article. It may be that the game is being updated to include widescreen/Xinput support and possibly Steam achievements to coincide with the 360 release (as well as the game's 10th anniversary this coming week).

From my understanding, the upcoming update on steam will have removed songs due to licensing agreement and maybe 1080p res option. The Widescreen option was always there as far as i can remember.

Funnily enough i've downgraded my game but the 1080p option isn't there in single player , i have to launch SA-MP to get it

Kiwi663878d ago

Which is fine unless you live in New Zealand as it isn't available here for some stupid reason

Steam is so jam packed with games that they had to start removing old games to make room for Left 4 Dead 3 and Half Life City 17 MMORPG-fps.

Or its just another HD remake...... Rather have l4d3 and the Half life mmo but I'm sure there is still 2 or 3 people on this planet who haven't played San Andreas.

You know what would be great as well? A Vita release. I would actually purchase a Vita version if they ever acknowledge the Vitas' existence.

DesertFoxJr3879d ago

That would be pretty good. I have it on my Nexus 7 for pete's sake, haha.

George Sears3879d ago

I downloaded it for my Nexus 5 (Nexus ftw!) as well but I immediately deleted it when trying to ride the bike at the beginning. The game looked great, but I can't stand playing games on phones.

"Let me play a controller oriented game with touch screens controls only. Instead of doing the logical thing and hooking it up to a controller via gameklip. Makes perfect sense!"

A PS3/PS4 controller hooked up to a phone(that can display in HD resolution) provides far better controls+looks than that of a Vita with a non HD screen and no L2/R2/L3/R3. If you purposely restricted yourself to touch screen only, then it's your fault for not being knowledgeable enough to know that...GASP you can actually play android/emulators with controllers

XperiaZ3's remote play+controller combo far outdo's that of the Vita's remote play simply due to having an HD screen, and all controls.

And no, the vita shouldn't get a port.

KonsoruMasuta3878d ago

Not even Sony acknowledges the Vita's existence.

INB4 4K RESSSSSSS. Hu hu hu...

It better be coming... I bought the original one on steam and could only play the game maybe an hour.

Now Im unable to even open the game properly because its so incompatible.

SuperBlur3878d ago

the blame lies in the version they released on steam, i've had no problem completing the game multiple times after downgrading

Occasional crash if i dont disable steam overlay

I read somewhere that there was a "second edition" updater which was supposed to fix all the crashing and such somewhere at some point but the link in the source was outdated and just redirected to R* website (this was when I bought the game some time in last year and found a forum post detailing the issues. Apparently R* had released this "second edition" to fix issues with Vista some time after Vistas release if I remember correctly)

If this "update" wont become free for those who already own SA on steam Im going to look into that downgrade method.

ATi_Elite3878d ago

Already played gta San Andreas with sever graphics mods and game play mods including San Andreas Dayz and an online chaos mod sorta like just cause 2 2000 player mod but no where near that amount.

San Andreas is my all time favorite gta but I can't see myself paying for an HD version when I already have that mod.

But I'm sure many others will appreciate it.

Hopefully we will get it upgraded like the Enhanced edition games we get

Did they really skip Shadow of the Colossus? I would definitely swap Dark Cloud for that.

Killzone 1
Black
FF12
GT4
Jak 3
SSX
MGS2
God of war 2

Too much greatness on this console.

Venoxn4g148d ago

I could argue that MGS3 looks even better than MGS2

Cacabunga148d ago

Veno

It does, but MGS2 tanker presentation was ahead of everything we could imagine.

phatak149d ago

god of war 2 looked better than most of the launch games, just like last of us 1 ,kz2 and god of war 3 looking better than a bunch of launch ps4 games, and kz2 for reason looks just as good in 2024, that game had some black magic

Cacabunga149d ago

Agreed. I sometimes watch multiplayer videos of it. Best FPS i have ever played. It’s the game that initiated me to the genre. It has a special place in my all time favorite top3

You're not gonna include Ratchet and Clank Up Your Arsenal or Jak 3 on that list? Just change it to Fall 2004 Releases and include the masterpiece that is Sly 2.

Those games were pretty mid. In fact, I'm surprised they even put The Getaway: Black Monday. But they left out much better games like Way of the Samurai 1-2, Okami, Jak 2 or 3, Final Fantasy 12, Yakuza 1-2, or SSX 3.
