Must We Always Save the World?
Anybody who has ever played fantasy or science fiction games has saved the world. A lot. Yes, the world seems to always be getting itself into trouble, doesn’t it? It might need someone to keep an eye on it more closely. And gamers have saved other worlds too. It is a genre that is as old as fantasy itself. But is this genre choking the potential of telling other stories within this genre? It’s a topic that is worth examining, because the world of gaming has the potential to tell better stories than any other genre. It would be a shame if only one type of story gets represented in bulk.
