So it is confirmed, 1080p plus 8 player battle! That game board mode looks fun, smash bros party. You can just draw the stages too!

Game of the year right here, calling it now. Nothing else coming out (or that has come out) this year is even close to this awesomeness.

Mostly good news but why the hell is nintendo still piddling around with online communication?
"Voice chat is only available in pre and post game lobbies".
Ya know, because the best conversations always happen when you're not actually playing the game.
I can understand not having it in matchmaking but in friend battles?

It's just stupid

randomass1713898d ago

They said in the video it was to keep the connections optimized. I don't like it either but whatever works to get voice chat in the game I guess.

ChickeyCantor3898d ago

In this day and age that's a terrible excuse. They can easily limit voice com to a couple of kb/s. Nothing prevents them from making it work.

jholden32493898d ago

Yeah their stated reason was to ensure the connections don't get bogged down. After the catastrophe of lag last generation in Smash Brothers, I'm okay with their judgment call.

Besides, matches are only a couple minutes long. Whatever I have to say I can say between matches.

user95970823898d ago

Yeah. Only microsoft and Sony figured that problem out two console generations ago. Nintendo refuses to keep up with online functionality.

N4g_null3898d ago

Yeah drive club and sonys network going down a lot should not even be happening. I mean they did that last gen? Seriously why is there not a mic in the dual shock or a whole wireless monitor? Also when is sony going to get good at game play and stop bribing us with free games we don't want.

ABeastNamedTariq3899d ago

8... Players!? Hoooo my gosh they know not what they do *faints*

SpeedDemon3899d ago

Damn, if this game doesn't sell Wii U's then nothing will.

To me smash brows Melee is my all time favorite. I can't tell you how many hours I played that game between friends and family. When I was a kid, my parents couldn't afford a gaming console so I had to go somewhere that had an arcade like setup with the only difference being instead of arcade cabinets, they had big screen crt TV's and gaming consoles setup. I would go with my friends on special occasions after school or with my family on the weekends.

I would meet and make new friends at that place as we were all gamers and we also brought our game boys and would trade pokemon. I don't think those places exist these days but back then, it was easy to meet like-minded people and have fun for hours.

Well, I’ll add my extremely subjective ranking too. I won’t include the 3DS version as I don’t owned it. I did play it for a few minutes though.

5. Brawl.
4. N64 Smash
3. Ultimate
2. Wiiu Smash
1. Melee

Yup Ultimate for me BY FAR is my favorite.

Ten Overdue Fighters for Smash Bros.

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "While the future of Smash Bros. has been uncertain for a while - whether Nintendo will build on Ultimate or bring us a new entry entirely - within all likelihood a new Nintendo system still means something new for Smash Bros. is on the horizon, and that something will almost certainly include new fighters, however many or few. While this might be the gaming article equivalent of putting up Christmas decorations in October, it’s never too early to start speculations when it comes to Smash Bros. before two thirds of everything inevitably gets leaked ahead of time. Keep in mind that this is not a list of predictions for future newcomers, though a few could perhaps fit in that same category, but rather a small list of the characters that in this writer’s humble opinion are overdue an appearance in the gaming crossover to end all crossovers."
