5 Hours? Thought the devs said it would be longer than your average COD campaign? That's shorter actually.

1nsomniac3887d ago

That's exactly what they said!

Redrum0593887d ago

Whose really surprised though?

raWfodog3887d ago

The majority of people probably won't even play the campaign anyway but at least they're still including one and giving people the option.

Deividas3887d ago

@raWfodog

Actually the majority of people tend to enjoy the COD campaigns...Might not be the reason why they buy them but its something that has been constantly pretty enjoyable.

I know I for one find them to be a great part of those games.

Gazondaily3887d ago

Yeah they said it would be much longer.

To be honest, 5 hours is a decent length for a COD campaign for me. The template wears thin after a while. Custcene, interactive cool slow mo bits, crazy story plotline that I have no idea etc etc.

ZombieKiller3887d ago

@raWfodog Dude if you look at my MP stats of the COD games when I played them, you'll see in MP I have anywhere between 15-20 days played and tens of thousands of kills.

I've been through every COD campaign...even the atrocious Ghosts campaign which was extremely bad compared to the others. Black Ops 2, I obtained all the trophies and alternate paths as well. Including the ending.

Not that I want a cookie, but speak for yourself dude.

Let's not forget that the campaign came way before the multiplayer.

raWfodog3886d ago (Edited 3886d ago )

@ ZombieKiller

Actually I've played all of the campaigns also, at least on the CoD's that I've bothered to play (COD:MW, COD:MW2, COD:BO) and I've also enjoyed them. I just know that a lot of people don't even bother to play the campaigns and dive straight into the MP.

Just to be clear, I'm happy when games include SP campaigns and don't ever want to see it go away as I am mainly a SP type gamer.

bouzebbal3886d ago

so this is just ANOTHER COD. Expected though cause they always praise SP length.

R6ex3886d ago

I buy only for the Single-Player Campaign. It had better be good!

svoulis3887d ago

Isn't the average like 3-4 hours?

ABizzel13887d ago

It's because they don't have to try, because most people go directly to the multiplayer.

Upbeat3887d ago

How can people actually disagree with ABizzel1, you'd have to have no brain.

oof463887d ago

@Upbeat: While most people do go straight to multiplayer, there are still a good amount of people who finish the campaign first.

ABizzel13887d ago

@oof46

Which is exactly why I said most people, and launching with things like double XP even more of those people are going to go straight to multiplayer.

oof463887d ago

@ABizzel1: I don't disagree with you. I was just commenting to Upbeat why you got disagrees.

ChronoJoe3886d ago

I finish campaign first. Not sure why but I rarely hit multiplayer in games before either completing or putting a good chunk of time for the multiplayer.

It may sound silly, but for me it provides context for the action. I like to know why I'm shooting people I'm shooting... makes it more involved for me.

Adds a little to it, otherwise it just feels like 'generic us military faction' vs 'randam ethnic minority terrorist group'. At least by playing singleplayer it makes a little more sense, to me.

That's just me though of course. I get why people skip it.

Meltic3887d ago (Edited 3887d ago )

wtf 5 hours are u kidding me ?. No way im paying a full price for this when i just wanna play the SP Campaign. Im getting this Another way not paying full price. And wasnt this next gen COD suppose too have a longer and better Campaign ? hm

ThunderPulse3887d ago

*RED ALERT* *RED ALERT* *HOSTILE PIRATE SPOTTED*

Meltic3887d ago

I am a pirate just beacuse i said im getting this Another way ?... well im waiting for a price drop...

DeadlyOreo3887d ago

I take it not many people bought Titanfall then?

What's interesting is that games on past generations such as Resident Evil used to take me about 2-3 hours to complete, yet they were my favourite games to date, and there was no online there either. This game has both and both will be good.

DarkOcelet3886d ago

@DeadlyOreo . You are kidding right . No way it took you 3 hours to finish Resident Evil first trilogy or last trilogy 3 hours unless you knew every nook and cranny because the average was 8 or 9 hours and Resident evil 6 campaign took me 25 hours to finish the 3 campaigns excluding Ada's campaign but . Even Revelations which was the shortest campaign will take the average player 5 hour to finish and Operation Raccoon City will take you 7 to 8 hours too . But yes i agree when you know everything you will be able to finish the first in less than 2 hours and the second in 4 hours and the third in less than 2 hours too but they were excellent . Even though 5 went to the action route the gameplay was really good and solid . If only they went to horror locations with a bit of change in gameplay then they will please alot of fans .

porkChop3887d ago

For all we know, he could have run straight through the game on the easiest difficulty.

PSN_ZeroOnyx3886d ago

That's exactly what I'm thinking, pro player speed run.

Johnsonparts233887d ago

not sure why anyone cares about the story length at this point. We all know how the story will go and most probably won't even play it. Multiplayer is all that matters and they better fix it.

LoneWolf0193887d ago

Still a better story then Destiny

Mithan3887d ago

That is why I don't buy them since cod4.

Foraoise3887d ago

Declassified ranked in at a record 45 minutes :P

NeoGamer2323887d ago

Ghosts was shorter...

I think it was about 3.5 hours.

But, 5 hrs is disappointing... I was hoping for 8-10.

burza19823886d ago

It is longer than was :) Haha

r3f1cul3886d ago

cod devs lying about something :O :O ... ohhhh wait thats what they always do... they also said quick scoping wasnt in this... or the past couple cods as well... and its still there... and fuck you final stand ringing any bells? yea... cod will say and do anything to sale copies...

Blashted3887d ago

Oh well the multiplayer is the only thing that lasts. SP seems normal length but im glad theyre not pulling a Dead Space 3 and making 40 hour campaign.

Tempest3173887d ago

I dont remember ds3 taking anywhere near 40 hours

victorMaje3887d ago

Hopefully they're worth it, fingers crossed...

PhoenixRising373887d ago

i'm actually really excited for this cod.

The Meerkat3887d ago

Your suffering from Destiny syndrome.

I've got it too. I can't believe I'm excited about COD again.

GMW3886d ago (Edited 3886d ago )

The Destiny story is really spread out thin that it feels like there is no story. I'm about to call it quits and trade it in for something else or in this case COD LOL!!

Actually, I know what I miss. Uncharted type of story telling! The kind that gets you all lost in it's world and looking forward to the next time you play. sigh.

Sokol3887d ago (Edited 3887d ago )

I primary play single player and I'm still wandering why they even bother with it in the Call of Duty ..

The only one worth playing was the COD4 Modern Warfare and the older titles.

Heisenburger3887d ago (Edited 3887d ago )

Because plenty of other people enjoy them, buddy. Obviously you know this. So I do not get why you are playing dumb with your comment.

The only one that I did not like was MW3. But then again I disliked that game from top, to bottom. I never played Ghost(s), so I do not know about that.

If they do not have a single player, what else would they show for their ads? It's all explosions and vague dialogue typically in the commercials.

I've seen a lot of people in recent years say the "typical five hour campaign" comment. But truly I've never beaten a CoD campaign that quickly. Granted I take my time in every game I play(unless it makes sense for my character to be running) but they are usually eight-ten hours for me, at least.

Plus there is little to no context for this run time. Does it include cutscenes? Plenty of games do not include cutscenes, nor do they include all of the times you died and restarted. Then again, plenty do.

Was the player just bulldozing through it in that playthrough?

Either way, if people say this game lasts five hours, and ALL of the other ones lasted five hours, then for me this is about a ten hour campaign, which is fine considering I will be getting Unity the next week, and Inquisition the week after.

If the narrative is compelling, I could see myself playing through it again.

spicelicka3887d ago

Good for you.

But for many other people this is BS. The last 4-5 cod games have been garbage single player wise. Cod 4 did it right because it was the first time, the cinematics were amazing and every scene was classic.

Since that it's been a crapfest where you're literally given a 15 foot wide space to move in, and every other step something blows up in your face or you're forced to watch your players do stunts without any control whatsoever. If you like it that's great, but i prefer to have my game like a game, rather than an interactive movie.

Heisenburger3887d ago (Edited 3887d ago )

@spicelicka

Really? "THIS IS BS!!1!"
I'll never understand why people state their opinions as facts. If you were a little more intelligent you could say things like "I didn't care for the last few", for example.

But no, you have a little bratty attitude because I'm not throwing a fit.

I replied to a guy that was of a similar mindset as you, with my different opinion. Yet you felt the need to counter mine with the same opinion as the first, more or less.

You value your opinion far too much.

spicelicka3887d ago

I didn't say it like a statistic, it IS a general fact that many people find this 5 hour campaign BS, just like how many other people are cool with it. I'm not writing a formal statement here, when I say BS you should be able to understand that I just mean I'm not ok with it.

I'm not sure why you're taking it personally, everything i said after "good for you" didn't pertain to you. It's great if you like it the way it is. You felt the need to defend it because you like the game how it is, and i felt the need to attack it because I don't. And this is not because I'm trolling, it's because Cod4 is one of my favourite games of last gen, and i did care about the franchise at that point. But I feel a bit bitter because of what they've done to it.

And to be honest I'm actually liking the multiplayer in advance warfare. They've changed the formula up and graphics look a lot better which is good. I don't like the campaign because they haven't done anything to improve it in years, now they've stuck Kevin spacey on it and i don't buy it. It was looking better until i found out it's the same 5 hour interactive movie. So yea i value what i say regarding that.

FastRedPonyCar3887d ago

As long as it's entertaining, I don't mind. I don't play COD multiplayer so as long as they have made a solid action packed SP campaign, it'll be a good redbox rental for a weekend and move onto something else.

That is a shame. AW is my favourite CoD. I hope they do a sequel one day.

LordoftheCritics797d ago

Thoroughly enjoyed AW.

Good campaign and everything.

LOGICWINS797d ago

Same. Fantastic campaign, but I wasn't crazy about the jetpacks in multiplayer.

RaidenBlack797d ago

I still prefer CoD based on historical settings or in near future settings(like CoD: Ghost) ... even though I liked infinite Warfare's campaign ... it was top notch

CobraKai797d ago

I felt it was a good time to revisit WW2

porkChop797d ago

I actually really enjoyed WWII. I never understood the hate it got.

JEECE797d ago

A lot of people who never played a shooter prior to like 2012 get really mad about anything that isn't a modern combat game.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare remains the series' lone bright spot this gen

GR: "If one series truly defined the seventh generation of consoles it was Call of Duty. Sadly, the series has struggled to reach the same heights on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and only Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare feels like the previous era of innovation and top-notch storytelling."

I quite enjoyed it but I think black ops 3 was the high point.

Modern warfare could be if a few tweaks are made and the new maps are good.

Baza2046d ago (Edited 2046d ago )

Story wise.. black opps 3 was all over the place. Modern Warfare story is so much more cohesive and actually makes sense.

Immorals2046d ago

Black ops 3 was terrible. The story was absolutely atrocious.

Knushwood Butt2046d ago

I quit that campaign after about an hour. All I remember is some crappy robot drone combat R2D2 thing that you had to use. I didn't make it past that.

Epicor2046d ago

For me the Black Ops installations have always been the high peaks in terms of PVP mode. Black ops 3 campaign was pretty bad though. Advanced Warfare's campaign was pretty good, one of the best ones - but PVP was bad!

gamer92046d ago

LOL Advanced Warfare, too funny

2046d ago
Kabaneri2046d ago

The campaign was OK, but the guns sounded like cap guns and the multiplayer maps were not memorable at all.
