Becoming a master assassin through customisation is the central focus of ACU

According to Ubisoft Producer, Lesley Phord-Toy, Assasisns Creed Unity is driven by player progression and not narrative. This is accomplished by placing the focus on becoming a master assassin through customisation.

This is great. Unless you wanna be a Lady Assassin... I'm kidding, calm down.

plut0nash3906d ago

Do you want to start a war? :P

Master-H3905d ago

Or better yet, a 1080p female assassin..

johny53906d ago (Edited 3906d ago )

Don't be surprised if this game is 30fps locked on PC.

There talks that Sony and MS are pressuring Ubisoft to lock the FPS on PC because of the console limitations. Who's story is right, I don't know, but this could get interesting! Worse then #GamerGate, #FPSGate!!!

Who's to blame? Probably MS, since they've been pushing the whole parity thing!

starchild3905d ago

Quit spreading baseless rumors in every Ubisoft article. That isn't believable in the slightest.

This game will likely run very similarly to Far Cry 3 on PC, although probably a little more demanding, which means I should still be getting 60fps.

CongoKyle3906d ago

Pretty awesome concept! Looking forward to it.

SpadeX3906d ago

I would appreciate it if they gave us character customization in an AC game like in Saints Row/Mass Effect games. Like for example adjust the assassin's body size, skin color, boob size, choose gender, etc.. It could offer more freedom and satisfaction to the game.

osprey193906d ago

Although i would love it to be a full rpg like the games u stated, u dnt think being able to change the gender of the main character would suit the single player, or the multiplayer of this game, simply because in this game sp and mp are intertwined, u need to be playing as the same character just for it to make sense of the story, its about arno's progression, and it wouldn't work if everytime u went into mp he suddenly had a sex change, also it wouldn't make sense if arno was a woman in single player either, cos of the relationship with Elise.

plut0nash3906d ago

What do you mean about the relationship with Elise? Lesbians existed long before the french revolution :)

osprey193906d ago

@plutonash, well in this story Elise is not that way inclined. So to change her orientation depending on what gender u choose to be is a bit odd to do story wise. This story is about Arno's progression from novice to master assassin, to change his identity in anyway will affect the story too much, assassins creed has always been story orientated. Games like tomb raider, uncharted, or bayonetta are also story and character driven games and fans would go nuts if they gave lara croft or Nathan drake a sex change. Same with assassins creed. Assassins creed may be going more rpg than previous titles, but its not gone full rpg where u build ur character from scratch, its still a character driven game.

SpadeX3906d ago (Edited 3906d ago )

@Osprey

I know it wouldn't fit in ACU, I simply was referring to a spin-off AC game (that isn't related/connected to the main series) that doesn't focus on being story-oriented. I know it'd be weird changing the gender of Arno or other assassins and would affect the entire storyline and the characters' traits.

osprey193906d ago

@colemacgrath, that may work actually. But it would have to put effort in not to be too similar but also not too different to the main series.

ion533905d ago

But then you're just making an Assassin up. It deosn't work narritively, especially with the Animus. It views ancestors how they are, not how you want them to be

SpadeX3905d ago

@ion
It doesn't have to work narratively, just like multiplayer in the AC games, they're assassins, they aren't related to any of their ancestors, and they can be somewhat customized.

Npugz73905d ago

After playing shadow of mordor its gonna be hard to play this! The combat in AC games is shit compared to shadow of mordor!

Geekman3905d ago (Edited 3905d ago )

That's because they stole it from Batman.

(I like SOM. Put down your gun.)

Besides, the combat seems to have been improved. Ubisoft claims they made it harder. If you're attacked by more than five guards with minimal customization, you're screwed.

I Played Assassin’s Creed Unity Almost 10 Years Later. It’s (Kinda) Spectacular

Shaz from GL writes: "Assassin’s Creed Unity is looked at as one of the worst in Ubisoft’s iconic franchise. But playing it nearly 10 years later reveals it may just be the best"

Do the NPCs still randomly levitate every now and then? Even years later I noticed they hadn't patched that out

Honestly I loved the PS4 ACs. I'd love next gen ports of Black Flag, Unity and Syndicate

Why Assassin’s Creed Unity remains one of the best games in the series

GF365: "Since the first Assassin’s Creed game, there have been entries up until now. There are more than a few titles that are far from an ideal stealth game. Let’s discuss why 2014’s Assassin’s Creed Unity is one of the best games in the series."

Glitchy as hell and flat story, nah this aint it. AC2, brotherhood and 4 were amazing games in every respective

Furesis946d ago

Yeah i would say brotherhood and 4 were the best for me. I have not played the new ones and Unity was my last one. Seems like i made a good choice.

DarXyde946d ago

I gave up after Revelations. Just couldn't bring myself to care anymore and I got burned out of the gameplay.

Definitely agree on 2 and Brotherhood though. Great games.

YourMommySpoils946d ago

A Ubisoft AC game that's not glitchy? That will be the day.

Knightofelemia947d ago

After constant glitches Arno being boring nah I am good I skipped Unity. I will always like the Ezio trilogy, Black Flag, Rogue, Odyssey, Syndicate. I use to love the franchise but now it feels stale and boring. But my list of favorite entries into the franchise will vary from other players favorite entries.

RaidenBlack946d ago

Odyssey is a really well-made RPG game ... but it ain't a proper AC game, even though its part of the lore

ToddlerBrain946d ago

It’s funny because, at launch, it was universally panned for being unplayable. It’s a great game that holds up today. I’m glad they fixed it.

staticall946d ago

The only good things i remember from Unity are pretty graphics and really good descending mechanics (even though it sometimes didn't make much sense, when your character can drop down from like 10 meter height onto a flagpole perfectly).

Game is glitchy to this day, i was playing in it years after the release date (with all the DLCs) and it's still broken. You had to reload missions too often for my taste (characters do not spawn, you fall through the floor, getting stuck in falling/sitting/aiming animation, hidden blade stop working, assassination target running away at the start of the mission). Story was meh, searching for all the treasures wasn't enjoyable at all. Coop was pretty much useless, i've beaten every coop mission in solo. Helix rifts were awful as well.

Not saying i hate this game or anything, but it got too many problems.

Assassin's Creed (i know it's a controversial opinion) and Assassin's Creed 2 are still great to this day.

anast946d ago

Unity was okay. I prefer Syndicate and Origins.
