Twinfinite: The latest installment in the Super Smash Bros series brings us the largest roster of fighters we have ever seen. This time we have been given a staggering 51 characters from which to choose. Unfortunately, with some parts of the roster, it seems as though quantity was given more importance than quality. By this, I am referring to clone characters. Several clone characters exist in this iteration of Super Smash Bros, and it is certainly a shame, given the outstanding quality of almost every other roster inclusion.
NetherRealm confirms its Mortal Kombat franchise has sold over 80 million copies in the last 30 years, and here's how it competes against other fighters.
Don't care what anyone says, Smash isn't a traditional fighting game. May as well call Powerstone and Playstation All Stars fighting games. They're more of an arena fighter /party game.
Including Smash Bros in a list of fighting games, is like including GTA in Racing games.
The designer of the original Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 64 shows us the prototype that started it all.
Kim writes: "Super Smash Bros. will not be shown at Evo 2022, this year's biggest fighting game event. The Sony-owned sports organization announced the loss of the platformer in a statement on Twitter today, and seemed to blame the decision on Nintendo, which has historically tried to control how their games appear in the wild."
In away this hurts Nintendo Smash Bros has some dedicated fans. What better way to help build hype and sell more of the game then showcasing it at EVO.
Agreed!!!
I really wish people would stop complaining about the Smash Bros roster...Most of the people that do are upset because they think it's ____ character over their favourite character making it in.
Dr. Mario was probably considered as an alternate for Mario before being spliced and made into a separate character. Same with Lucina and Dark Pit. It's not like there's a set number of characters and removing any one of the three above would open a slot up. I don't think it works that way. Each character is judged for their own merits. For most cases, if they didn't make it in in the first place they wouldn't make it in just because a different character is cut.
It has a fantastic roster. And I, personally, am happy with it.
Clones have been done since Melee, and even then I didn't care. It was quick to add these characters, so it isn't like they took a slot. If they weren't added, it would have resulted in a smaller roster.
These 3 were added as bonuses after they finished all the other characters . I'd rather have those 3 bonus characters be clones than not be in at all.
