i dont get these statements , yes obviously xb1 can do 1080p but does it not matter what its running?these are indies that barely ever push hardware
im sure the wii u can run some 2d sprite games at 4k , but that doesnt make it a system that does 4k gaming.

Jaqen_Hghar3508d ago (Edited 3508d ago )

Exactly. PS3 did 1080p 60fps on Wipeout but that doesn't mean it was the standard for the system.

@u got owned
We're saying that just because a game CAN reach those goals doesn't make it the standard for the system. A man has never claimed every game should reach 1080p on PS4 but if the resolution is the same on X1 and PS4 then PS4 should have sort of other improvements simply because the extra 50% GPU power and RAM advantage has to go somewhere or the dev is just lazy or playing parity over making the best possible game on each platform. They should all reach 900p on PS4 at least but mainly you can't make them the same because the systems aren't the same. It's like if PC was capped in favor of PS4 having parity with it.

u got owned3508d ago

So when a Dev says XBO can do 1080p you guys draw the indie, textures etc... card but if the game cant reach 1080p then the other element don't matter just the fact that the game is not 1080p., you guys need to make up your minds or stop the bashing just for the hell of it.

GamerRetro3508d ago

Delusional Sony fan please keep telling yourself ps4 has that 50% extra lmfao keep dreaming your games can hit a solid 60fps so all your games are running at 30fps lmfao that dat power you are referring lmfao dreamers

darthv723508d ago (Edited 3508d ago )

Perhaps what people should do is not place expectations in the realm of 1st and 2nd parties on that of the 3rd parties.

Meaning the only ones with no reason to hold back are the 1st/2nd party developers. 3rd parties will either strive for parity or they will diversify their multiplatform projects with some sort of extra content directed to each platform.

This expectation of 'something more' simply because a system is better needs to stop. Especially in regards to looking at non exclusive titles.

r2oB3508d ago

@ darthv72

If gamers shouldn't expect 3rd party developers to maximize the tools given to them by each platform and provide us with the best experience possible (within reason), then perhaps they shouldn't expect gamers to buy their games.

Being 3rd party isn't an excuse to blatantly half-ass a job, especially when the platform you are working with is just as easy, if not, the easiest to develop for... And just as capable, if not, more capable.

That's a very absurd comment you wrote.

Are you serious? You're making no sense at all and the fact you got 40 agrees shows how delusional MS fanboys really are and dont get it at all. Its not like when the X1 version of a game has lower res it somehow has better textures, AA, shadows, effects etc, or anything and Sony fanboys ignore that and onl focus on the res. As a matter of fact the X1 ver. not only usually has the lower res but often times also has the lower quality settings on something else. So of course Sony fanboys are going to say something about it being a lower res than the PS4 version. But on games like this, the X1 better damn well be able to at least do these games at 1080p, otherwise it would be even more pathetic than it seems now.

You MS fanboys are pretty delusional if you cant inderstand that.

u got owned3508d ago

@dantesparda

Ha! A fanboy calling me fanboy... :/

Im not gonna even waste my time with a one bubble fanboy like you, it would be like talking to a wall.

jrshankill3507d ago

Please show me a game on the PS4 which shows 50% more power.

Can't? Sure disagree with this comment instead. Seems to be all some people can do around here instead of showing hard proof.

r2oB3507d ago

@ jrshankill

MGS Ground Zero and CoD Ghosts are 1080p on PS4 and 720p on Xbox One, that's over twice the amount of pixels the GPU is outputting. You asked for one game, I named two, happy? Most games output almost 50% more pixels on the PS4 relative to the Xbox One (1080p vs 900p).

Apparently X1 is struggling to reach 1080p mostly in open-world games, similar like PS3. And both have issue in RAM.

uth113508d ago

This is a typical gamingbolt headline. They ask every developer that question.

C-H-E-F3508d ago

These devs of these small titles trip me out, duh your little puny game can deliver 1080p 60fps without esram issues because it's a puny game. Games that needs that 102 octane racing fuel engines will lock up because the xbox 1 only has premium 93 to offer. If it's struggling now with ps3/360 ports so to speak what makes the next 5-8 years more likely to deliver a true next gen experience on all cylinders. Spec wise we know what the xbox will be able to do, and in order for it to give the illusion of 1080p 60fps of big AAA titles they will have to strip out sooo many assets and make alot of stuff within the environment static and not dynamic "cooked assets" so that it can give off the "next gen appeal". A perfect example is Forza.

BX813508d ago

@vishmarx. Yes and you can have a great looking game that's not 1080p. For some reason a fire was fueled making some sheep believe that if a game wasn't 1080p, it simply couldn't look good. Realistically this isn't the case. The thing is xb1 has full fledged 1080p titles not just indies. We might see less as the gen goes on but who knows.

MRMagoo1233508d ago

There is nothing in the article stating anything to do with the esram or ease to get to 1080p why does the title mention that? It's click bait.

frostypants3508d ago (Edited 3508d ago )

Yeah. The PS3 could do 1080p (see: Wipeout HD). The trick is running 1080p with good textures and effects.

starchild3508d ago

Well, from what I have seen it is usually you guys making statements like "the PS4 can do 1080p and 60fps and the Xbox One can't". I've seen multiple Sony fanboys make a blanket statement like that and it's just silly.

Any console can do 1080p and 60fps, it's just a matter of the trade-offs you are going to have to make to get there.

Neither console can do a guaranteed 1080p/60fps if the game is demanding enough. Most games so far have been 30fps for this reason. Devs would rather push other aspects of the graphics or game design over faster framerates or, in some cases, higher resolutions.

im xbox fan but this is bullsh*t It's just indie game

123pol3508d ago

Don't doubt the xbox ONE's capable to make 1080p games but then they have to sacrifice the textures and other stuff.

LoydX-mas3508d ago

Same can be said about PS4.
1080p on a lot of games, but lots of fog and few AI characters

Jaqen_Hghar3508d ago

nobody says PS4 is ALWAYS gonna get 1080p but it should always be higher in certain than Xbox. Whether that's textures, framerate, foliage, shadows, resolution, etc. isn't important but devs need to stop with this parity nonsense.

LoydX-mas3508d ago

As far as I know this is the only multi-plat game developed strictly for the next-gen systems that a developer admits they went for parity.

If it continues with other developers on more next-gen only games then maybe people should be asking why, otherwise get used to the fact that the PS4 will have limits on new engines and the Xone will have limits on older engines.

Play2Win3508d ago

There is enough power for high quality textures. Thing is what is going on screen and what does the developer want in the game. It's not just a strange coincidence that exclusives on consoles have much better visuals than multis. They are developed around the specific hardware. Even things a distance can be rendered sharp and good looking because you can use all the tricks the system has. Which take a hell of time but you have this time when you are developing exclusively. But the more systems you need to adress you need the lowest common thread and scale/build up on that which will never be as good. But dont mix visuals wich actuall technology in real-time which games on PC do far more often do.

Muzikguy3508d ago

Strategy game?? <facepalm>

They must think everyone is stupid or something. "Xbox one has no problems doing 1080P"

No sh*^ it's a freakin monopoly game! Wow

ScottyHoss3508d ago

It has troubles but it's doable. Wolfenstein was 1080p 60fps on both consoles, no textures were forfeited to achieve that either. On comparisons grounds the PS4 is more powerful, but both can hit 1080p, with work, and not without problems in the development process.

valet_Smerdyakov3508d ago

Unfortunately Wolfenstein was not quite 1080p. Quoting from the Digital Foundry face-off article:

"Having now completed our analysis, it's clear that the PS4 gains an advantage with smaller drops in resolution that occur less frequently than they do on Xbox One. Metrics in the area of 1760x1080 are found on PS4, while on the Xbox One this can drop to an extreme of 960x1080 in some scenes. This is usually identifiable by an increase in the amount of jaggies on screen, along with a slightly fuzzier appearance to the already gritty aesthetic that Machine Games employs throughout the game."

Kribwalker3508d ago

@valet

Funny, I remember when Sony fans continuously told me its 1080p if the horizontal lines are 1080. Didn't matter if it was 960x1080 (Killzone shadowfall comes to mind) it was 1080p. So are you now confirming that Killzone shadowfall was not 1080p?

Muzikguy3508d ago

Yes, it all depends on the game. Wolfenstein looks nice now but by the end of this gen it will be dated. It's already getting there. It's still a good game though

BG115793508d ago (Edited 3508d ago )

@Scottyhoss; for you're info in Wolfesntein both consoles were using scalable engine, with means that sometimes the resolution dropped.
For example in certain situations the Xbone had to drop resolution to 960x1080 to maintain the framerate. The PS4 had to drop it to 1760x1080p in the same situations...
The 1080p resolution is 1900x1080p. So none of the consoles could have maintain the 1080p 60fps without these scaling engines.
Props for the PS4 that still holds with a big margin a better resolution.
Here is a link of all the AAA and resolution/framerate for the PS4 and Xbone. Go check it.

Habitat Review (Invision Community)

Habitat is a bizarre experience. On face value it’s a physics sandbox, limited in depth by its horizontal locking. However a few more minutes of time exposes you to quite a strange yet unavoidable experience. Habitat manages to spin a new shirt out of the RTS cotton and have created a definitely unique experience.
