Interview: Dying Light, Deep Silver, and Why Techland Has Moved on to Something Better |TGH

Vaughn writes for TheGamersHub: "After going hands on with Techland's Dying Light at Gamescom this year and experiencing a new way of terror from the folks behind Dead Island, we've had some questions on our mind. So, at this year's Eurogamer Expo at Earls Court in London, we got the chance to sit down with Maciej Binkowski, a game designer at Techland working on Dying Light. We covered all the bases in this lengthy interview, touching upon the everything from the rocky relationship with Deep Silver, all the way to the inspiration behind Dying Light's multiplayer mode and creative settings."

Great interview piece, liking the look of this game.

Good read. Potential for a great game. Hope the weapons crafting/upgrading will be as simplistic as TLOU and not overly complicated.

Nobody bought it for an obvious reason.

Wtf did this edition come with ? A real helicopter and a real zombie virus ?

For one lucky person willing to spend $386,000, the My Apocalypse Edition of Dying Light promised a staggering collection. It included the buyer’s face in the game, a human-sized ‘Volatile’ statue, and parkour lessons with a freerunning team. It also came with night vision goggles, an all-expenses paid round trip to Techland’s offices, and four signed copies of the game. Oh, and it also came with a custom-built, ‘zombie-proof’ survival shelter.

LOL but it was a stunt from the team:
‘It was a PR stunt and got a lot of media attention for its wild and over-the-top nature, it was designed to generate buzz around the game’s release. It did a great job of getting the game noticed, though! But nobody purchased it – thankfully, I guess!’

I finally beat DL2 this past weekend. I’ll pick up the Beast for sure.

It got a lot of shit from fans more not being as scary at night on release. I was in that boat. But once I gave it a fair shot I really loved it. The movement was so much more expressive to me. I enjoyed the story too.... for the most part. Was my game of the year when it came out. With all the updates for darker nights and all that, it's even better. I feel almost exactly the same about stalker 2 right now. The erojank games are scratching my itch.
