Former SaGa Series And Square Developers Working On A New 3DS RPG

"Unchained Blades developer FuRyu recently teased something called “Project Legacy” earlier this month, which has been revealed as The Legend of Legacy, an upcoming Nintendo 3DS RPG being made by former Squaresoft developers, according to his week’s Famitsu magazine.

FuRyu have yet to share much about The Legend of Legacy, but revealed that it’s being made by a range of developers who previously worked on big titles for Square.

The Legend of Legacy is slated for release in Japan on January 22, 2015 for Nintendo 3DS. Here’s the game’s official website."

Square Enix trademarks HD-2D in Europe, FuRyu trademarks Heroland in the U.S. and Europe

Square Enix has filed trademarks for “HD-2D” and “HD2D” in Europe, and FuRyu has filed a trademark for “Heroland” in both United States and Europe.

“HD-2D” is the term used by Square Enix to describe the graphical aesthetic of its July 2018-released Octopath Traveler. With the term being trademarked, it is possible that the company plans to use the term for future games, Octopath Traveler or otherwise.
