Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition Review | Metal Arcade

Metal Arcade: Jason Bakker writes:

Diablo 3 has undergone a lot of changes since it was first released in 2012. Dozens of patches balanced the game, removed the Auction House, and added new features before the first full expansion, Reaper of Souls, was brought to market earlier this year. Now consoles are getting Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition, which includes all of the content from Diablo 3 as well as updates and features from Reaper of Souls – such as Adventure Mode, the all-new Crusader class, Act V, a level 70 cap, and more.

Loving this on X1.The colour pallet is just stunning.4-player co-op is absolute madness with different coloured missiles of magic filling the screen constantly.Never had a frame drop yet.It really is polished and deserves the scores it's been receiving.

sobotz3913d ago

Agree, this and Destiny = goodbye real world

Not mention, there are Danganronpa 2 and Tales of Xillia 2 too... damn my wallet

MetalArcade3913d ago (Edited 3913d ago )

Yeah, I really enjoyed my time with it. Thanks for reading!

shammgod3913d ago

Yeah, the PS4 and X1 versions are nice and shiny. They did a good job on it

Clown_Syndr0me3913d ago

I really want to play this. Shame I'm out of work and cant afford to buy anything at the moment!

NexGen3913d ago

Just watch YouTube of it with a controller in hand. It should get you past the dry spell ;)

Artista 3913d ago

man that sucks. . same boat here. I'm dying, no consoles lol.

I'm puzzled with this game. I want it & it's getting amazing reviews but everyone I know that is a real gamer & doesn't get paid to review games tells me. You sit on your couch & for hour upon hour repetitively hit the exact same buttons on the pad non stop while collecting random items. They say the easiest way to describe it & the best comparison is sitting for hours on end at a Vegas 1 spin/$1 gambling machine. There's no skill or intelligence to it, it's just mindless luck.

Now to me that doesn't sound fun at all & I don't see how u can justify £60 for that experience. Am I missing something?

The thing is I still want the game. I think I may just wait for it to get cheap first.

vikingland13913d ago

@1nsomniac#3
You give a good analogy of the game but..... it just works for some reason. I don't know why it's so fun it could be that the conrtrols are tight or it could be the loot system or it could be both.

All I know for sure is it's fun. And the multi player is fantastic (either couch co op or online).

Lord_Sloth3913d ago

Did you enjoy Gauntlet? Did you enjoy Champions of Norath? If so you'll enjoy Diablo.

CorndogBurglar3913d ago

I've been playing video games for about 27 years so i know what you mean about getting burned out. Especially when most of the quality games these days seem to be made up of FPS and mediocre 3rd person action games.

But if you played the older Diablo games then you know what to expect. Sure levels, enemies, and loot are all randomized, but this might be the first time i've heard someone say that is a bad thing.

The randomization keeps the game fresh. You never know what you're going to come across. If everything were just linear and you got the same equipment and items in the same place every time, it would get boring pretty quickly.

It also helps with multiplayer as you can swap items with people, as they won't have the same gear as you.

CorndogBurglar3913d ago

It sounds like your "real gamer friends" have never played a Diablo game past their first play through.

Once you get up in the higher difficulties, it becomes extremely strategy oriented. You really have to know how to build an effective character if you are going to survive for long.

It isn't just a matter of mashing the same buttons over and over again. If your character isn't effective then you won't last long.

1nsomniac3913d ago

I think maybe it's just an age thing as when I say "real gamers" I mean we have been playing games for 20-30 years. We all had & played the original games on the old school pentium's & loved them but maybe its just we're getting bored of gaming, but then again I kind of want that nostalgia back as well.

I'm playing this game at the moment and it feels like a cellphone game. It's okay, but it feels cheap and overly simplified.

Haven’t played Diablo since the original and I think the last two stayed close to that formula which for the time was said to be good. I didn’t find the game style to my liking and gave up on it. What was considered good pc tech decades ago seems like mobile phone fodder I guess, kind of neat to see the difference over time.

DOMination-1384d ago

It's nearly ten years old. The point of the game is not to look good, but to have fun creating a build that can survive on the harder difficulties.

THRASHMOUTH1384d ago

This. End game grinding and pushing your character(s) up the leaderboards.

anast1384d ago

Coming from Diablo 2I }always avoided this game, but I went ahead and tried it. I don't get how people think it's a good game. It's okay, but it's crazy how much it isn't good.

Takwin1384d ago

It works. I installed it on my Series X. I hope they can't or won't take it away!

VenomUK1384d ago

@Takwin Make sure to start playing it! Surely they can't rescind your ownership once you've already got a save game file?

KillBill1384d ago

The download does not insinuate ownership. As always they have allowed Gold play of some games for members. A FREE period of play is offered for a limited time and little more. The option here is for installation... not for purchase/ownership.

I love couch coop. My favorite will probably always be Gears of War but I'll give Borderlands props as well :)
