CounterSpy (PlayStation 4) Review - Push Square

Push Square: "Despite its seemingly vanilla exterior, CounterSpy is a remarkably ambitious title. It makes an admirable attempt at creating a new kind of 2D stealth game, but unfortunately the results just aren't particularly compelling. While its presentation is dapper and divine, its gameplay is clunky, and the whole experience gets tiresome very quickly."

I think this game is severely overpriced. I don't really like how many of the indies are $14.99 by default, and I think this price tag is a barrier to most gamers.

Agreed, purchased and beat this game. While it was fun and unique, the novelty wore off pretty fast. I would have preferred this game to be priced in at $9.99 as I feel that would have been better value, but that's up to the developers to set their own pricing.

Remembered playing this on my Vita. Was very underrated.

I loved this game! Played on PS4 and Vita (for the platinum), art style and gameplay were incredible. I think it was also part of PS+. A cool proc generated stealth game!

It was a PS+ game. None of the versions have a Platinum trophy though.

In french, we have an expression where "platinum" means obtaining all trophies.

I still play this game, mostly on the Vita but also on the PS4. Was sad when the servers were turned off to play against other player's progress. It still is a great game.

The game was really fun. I was hoping they would had made a sequel by now.

Wow, i never heard of this game but it looks fantastic. Going to have to put this on the list of games to get.

A Look at All of the Stealth Games Available on Vita

VGChartz's Adam Cartwright: "The stealth genre is one that some would argue doesn’t even exist – many titles include stealth elements, but actually fit into one of a number of other genres like action, platformer, or third-person shooter. Ever since the breakout success of the Metal Gear franchise (in particular Metal Gear Solid), though, the genre seems on much more stable footing and it demonstrated that you can have a veritable blockbuster on your hands relying only on stealth mechanics as the main gameplay element.

In recent years we’ve seen other things like Assassin’s Creed, Hitman and Splinter Cell continue to push the genre forward, although it still has somewhat limited appeal. Thankfully, the Vita has a healthy selection of stealth games available (and even more with backwards-compatibility), meaning if you’re looking to do some sneaking on the go then you’ll be well served with the console."
