Sony DDOS Attacks affect Single Player, Simple Fix Found

If you planned on playing a single player game this weekend, something like Metro Redux, you've probably found that you're not able to thanks to the DDOS attacks on Sony. Loading will lead you to a black screen before you even get to the main menu. Thankfully, a simple fix has been found that'll mean you won't have to worry about that bothersome block any longer.

I can only speak for Metro, but I know other people are having trouble elsewhere, with both digital and physical versions of games.

Because of the lack of information given - it was literally just a black screen for me - it'd be easy for someone to try something silly like deleting 15GB of game in the hopes that re-downloading after the attacks fixes the issue. Obviously that's not necessary.

the games do start it just takes longer. I had the problem with last of us (disk). Black screen. closed app. tried again and just waited to see what happend. booted up in a couple of minutes.

edit: tried with some digital games. those seemed to hang forever. I signed out of psn and they started immediately.

People who have their account set as the Primary for their PS4 should have no problems playing games offline.

Different issue concerning, presumably, how certain games link to the psn, as opposed to how it checks your rights.

You set your acc. or PS4 as PRIMARY and it will work. All games WILL work!

I was freakin out because I was trying to play my 2nd PS4 that I have in my room upstairs and all the games were locked out, well, I found out that you can still play your single player games on the "Primary PS4". No prob here now just have to play on my #1 PS4 :)

It took my PS4 about 5 minutes to boot up. It was hanging on the blue background screen the entire time. Everything seems to be affected in some way.

Ya diablo 3 is playing just fine. But that sucks that's it's effecting single player games. So somebody tech savy. This ddos attack. I've gather that's it's an overload of Sony servers. How long till something like this can get fixed?

I wonder how this attack will effect Destiny's launch for the Ps4 and Ps3. The last attack like this lasted months.

The PSN hack in 2010 was a lot more serious than a denial of service attack. I'm online on PSN now, so I'll bet that it won't affect the Destiny launch at al.

I had this issue playing Lego Hobbit. Thought my system was bugging out, so I wasn't too happy. Didn't even consider that it could be related to the network issues.

I walked into the issue playing Infamous Second Son, in that the game seemed to load initially but then hung on a black screen. What I did was probably an irrelevant fluke but I just held down the eject button a few times until the blu ray drive reset itself. Logically bonkers but no complaints here......
