During an interview with Shadow Realms Creative Director James Ohlen, who also serves in the same capacity in Star Wars: The Old Republic, DualShockers got some quite interesting insight about the reasons why BioWare Austin's Star Wars-themed MMORPG isn't being ported to consoles, and a new and unannounced expansion.
More details on the newly-revealed Exodus
The elevator pitch for Exodus? Mass Effect meets Interstellar meets Final Fantasy.
Mass effect 1 was dope as could be. Part 2 seemed dumbed down and on a budget. You couldn't even run around the citadel. You got to choose from a small list of areas to go to like a store etc. I like rpgs that have actual towns that you can walk around. It kinda takes away from the experience imo, and I'll point out there weren't many space rpgs, so there wasn't alot of competition for the crown.
I pray the day I can type out a comment without my phone or this website acting like I'm touching more then just my keyboard fake clicking on these ads, or when I'm typing fast it can keep up.
The last great game Bioware has put out was Mass Effect 2. Everything else has been pretty lackluster. Inquisition was pretty good, I guess. Major issue being the over-padding of uninteresting side quests made a lot of the content feel like an MMO.
I think they have one more chance to actually pull out a banger before EA shuts them down.
EA is nearing an agreement to move the ongoing development and operation of MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic from BioWare to third-party studio Broadsword Online Games, IGN has learned. The move is intended to allow BioWare to focus on Mass Effect and Dragon Age.
Because the game almost died on PC until it went F2P, that's what's holding that game together, why waste more resources porting to next gen with more financial risk? If anything, a PS4 version would be the only one that makes sense due to hitting the "10 mil sold to consumers" mark.
They probably barely made profit on PC. Spending money to bring it to consoles would cost them money that they wouldn't be guaranteed to get back.
I actually played this game on PC with the xbox controller and it worked quite good after macroing a few keys together. I don't see why it's technically difficult to port onto the current gen as they would be more than powerful enough, it's probably due to licensing issue and projected sales why it's not being done more than anything else.
never say never, i never thought diablo was coming to ps4, i never thought the new final fantasy was coming to consoles primarly because of the controls, no one thought day z would come to console, war thunder and a bunch more that are coming from the pc side. so i would not say isn't coming. the fact of the matter is, its possible and if the devs get desperate enough it will.
