Vita not Forgotten: 18 Upcoming Titles

Whilst Sony’s own conference may have been a little shy on Vita content specifically. Playstation Strategic Content Speaker Shahid Kamal has taken to twitter to highlight all the games on show that will be coming to the platform. Some of these have been announced already, many of which will be available to play on the show floor at gamescom. Below is a full list of the games mentioned so far.

Did I said otherwise? No I didn't, besides I like Indie games, a lot of them are masterpieces like Hotline Miami and Don't Starve (my 2 favs).

I'm all in to support Indies but i'm not all in to have only Indie games to play, there MUST be diversity.

Indy isn't a genre, to say there isn't diversity within indy games is just nonsense. Indy is only a business model, it doesn't prevent the game being anything. Star Citizen and Braid are worlds apart, but they are both indie games. So what relevance does the title 'indie' have in informing the consumer? None.

@ChronoJoe You said it, its a business model therefore Indie devs don't have the resources to make games on par with Battlefield, Need for Speed, God of War, Grand Theft Auto, etc.

My point is that even though a lot of Indie games are great, not everyone likes them and not everyone is willing to pay 5-10 times more on Vita than PC or iOS/Android. So there MUST be a balance between low, mid, high budget and mainstream games.

Games like Starcitizen, and Minecraft say suggest otherwise. Whereas there are plenty of low budget games produced even from third party publishers (including on the Vita). Entwined is an example.

So the term 'indy' remains inaccurate relative to your intent. Just as indy is not a genre, it is not a label for low-budget games. Indy games can have budgets as wide as any 1st party game.

I don't have a problem with you wanting games developed on higher budgets, but 'indy' is not the correct label for games that aren't.

hmm more indies for the vita so they waited until the game show was over to announce these indies just wow Sony this is a very good way to piss people off. there is nothing on that list that i want its a good thing i don't work today wouldn't want any one to see me in this mood.

yeah i agree man i don't know what Sony is doing.i'm a PC gamer as well so if i wanted to play indies i would do that on my PC. what i need from sony is games that's made for my vita even a few ps2 games wouldn't be too bad.

PS4 requires PS+. PS+ gives Vita games.
Vita has trophy support. Unsinkable.

Also its Vita TV to me, not Playstation TV. So I think Vita going to sell. The ecosystem that can play Vita games will grow for sure.

Vita is pretty much dead.

God of War collection and Borderlands 2 were probably the last two AAA we'll see in a long time.

And god of war whilst fantastic is just ported from the ps2, and there's me thinking vita could stream ps4 quality titles, shame really great system just no AAA Killers!

If I was working at Sony, I would just start writing checks off to Square Enix for a new 3D Final Fantasy, one to Kojima for a new MGS Vita, one to Capcom for Resident Evil. and bam, Vita's back!!! But no, I think Sony is set on transitioning the Vita into a PS4 accessory. The only games that I have been playing for my Vita is Corpse Party (PSP port) and Muramasa Rebirth (Wii Port).

I almost feel bad for this guy. he's tried his hardest to get games on vita yet sony has very little interest. I applaud his hard work in getting the games he has to the amazing device.

Ah well I still enjoy my Vita, just looking forward to a few more games and that's it. However it'll never gather dust, it'll just hibernate fully cared for when the time comes. The Vita is what PSP should've been from the start, shame.

Where is Gravity Rush 2 news?
How about a new IP besides Freedom Wars?
Why not a new uncharted game?
Or maybe a new platformer?
Where is Gran Turismo?
Why didn't we see anything on a GTA for vita?
How come we dont hear anything about Bioshock vita (and the last guardian for that matter)
What about streaming twitch tv?
Or Toukiden Sequel?
Why not some new apps?
Or maybe even PS2 classics for on the go?

We Vita owners get nothing, but many on this site seem to love it. I didn't get a Vita for indie games I can play on a 15 year old pc.

The thing is, we already knew about all of these games. They've all been announced, but none of them were mentioned in the press conference. No, instead they're tweeted out by a guy from SCEE who signs on third party developers to bring their games to PlayStation. Was it too much to have one of the guys on stage actually mention one of these games?

Shahid's whole rants started off in response to a Tweet by Curve Studios saying that they had wished the Vita got more love. Shahid commented "Some of those games are coming out for the Vita as well." Really? Which ones? That was never mentioned in the conference. Then of course the anger piles up on Shahid and he gets defensive and a bit petulant in his responses.

The irony is that the whole thing is capped with a re-tweet from Shahid from a guy saying something like, "I had no idea all of these great games were coming. Thanks Shahid." THAT'S THE POINT! Nobody knows these games are coming. Some guy who follows the Vita's greatest champion claims to not know these games were coming out?!? That tweet should be printed out and hung up at the offices of Sony. That is how bad your messaging on the Vita is. A guy who follows Shahid on Twitter does not know there are games coming out for the Vita.

There are a ton of great games coming out for the Vita, but until Sony gets it together and starts telling people when it has the stage, nobody will care.

I do agree there's not enough publicity for these games. I understand that Sony don't want to develop games for the Vita themselves right now, but some support for the independent developers that are holding the platform afloat certainly wouldn't go a miss.

Furthermore they need to make an effort to destigmatise the notion of 'indy' developer. For some reason 'indy' is slowly becoming a derogatory label, and I feel that most people who coin the term do not even know what it means. They use it as if it is a genre label, which is stupid.

Yeah, great! Sony barely utters the word "Vita" in their press conference that most gamers can actually watch. Instead, they show off the games on the show floor. Well, the problem is, most gamers are not there to see those games on the floor! And press coverage of the stuff on the floor is generally abysmal. We get live blogs and video feeds of the press conferences and little else. Occasionally, we'll get some tidbits on games that press members want to write about, but it's hardly comprehensive and they often don't cover games that I actually WANT to know about.

18 new titles coming to Vita, not a single one mentioned during an event dedicated to showing new games...

As a massive Vita fan, and one trying to convince my friends to buy one as they just don't understand why I love it, this sort of thing makes me wonder why I even bother. I am doing the job that Sony's marketing team should be doing, but i'm doing it just out of love of the platform, maybe if they showed these games during the conference and mentioned they were on Vita people might want to buy it...

Even as a indie console it's not that great since you pay 10-15 easily for games that cost you 1-5 bucks in other platforms.

Indies are cool and all but i still want to experience new things on the Vita , things you can't get anywhere else but the Vita . I got those when i first play Gravity Rush , Tearaway and i'm craving for more because those exp was awesome .
