Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare's multiplayer sure looks a lot like Titanfall

GameZone's Matt Liebl writes, "Well, it's official: Call of Duty has become Titanfall. Boost jump and all."

That's what I was thinking while watching the trailer.

StanLee3971d ago

I'll pass. Looks like rubbish. And I've long been a defender of the series.

AngelicIceDiamond3971d ago

Lol ok how did I know the media would stacked this up to Titanfall.

The only thng they have in common is jet packing and double jumping.

Lets talk about how the weapons are getting more ridiculous like laser rifles?

How COD could potentially be going down Saints Row ally with over the top weapons and equipment.

COD is already a ultra realistic shooter but this is definitely pushing beyond that just like what happened to Saints.

Now maybe COD needs this? I personally don't mind COD getting silly because that's what makes it fun and that's something COD fans are starting to expect. First its over the top kill streaks, Dogs, now exosuits.

Besides BF4 will always aim for that realistic nature thanks to its engine that pushes that sort of structure.

blackbeld3971d ago

^^^

For once I agree with you AngelicIceDiamond.

I will buy the CODAW day one.

TekoIie3971d ago

@AngeliclceDiamond

... Laserz aren't ridiculous.

3-4-53971d ago

This game looks awesome. Much better than Titanfall, what are you guys trolling about ?

finally a NEW Cod.....and you complain.

3971d ago
BX813971d ago

Hells yeah! Welcome back Cod.

Naga3971d ago

It may be new for COD, but it's not new for the gamers. That's the problem.

scark923971d ago

You are the reason that COD has been the same for the last 4 or 5 years... This series needs some serious innovation, or if it goes back to COD4 roots...

Patrick_pk443971d ago

How is it a new COD when one can play Titanfall and have the same experience. It might be different to others CODs, but it clearly rips off the core of another game which is exactly the same now.

gootimes3971d ago (Edited 3971d ago )

Yeah, it looks much better than Titanfall to me... It looks like it plays a bit similar to unreal tournament as far as movement.

isa_scout3971d ago

How is it better than TitanFall if it's like TitanFall? People complained about TitanFall saying it looked like COD with mechs, and now they're cool with COD looking like TitanFall? Seriously, come on people. In no way does this look nearly as good as TitanFall. If you took TitanFall, removed the Titans then this is what you'd get. At least TitanFall has mechs....Scorestreaks break the game the way they always have, and that shotgun was way OP by the looks of it during the live stream. Duel wielding? No thanks. When the heck are they gonna put vehicles back in COD? That's literally the one thing I've always missed in COD. Funny how everyone complains about COD every year then you get all excited because they bring out a kick ass trailer(they do make good trailers) and you're ready to board the hype train all over again. I'll pass, and by the way saying "finally a NEW COD...and you complain" makes zero sense.... There's always a new COD, every year like clockwork. You been living under a rock bro?

MRMagoo1233971d ago

They would have been making this game before titanfall gameplay was shown I can imagine so the fact they are similar in some ways is coincidence, also nothing like titanfall imo cos cod has content and a story mode.

I thinks it going to be worstest COD till date. Advance Warfare = Titanfall + Crysis3. Maps look Old (I remembered BO2 maps)

youndamie3971d ago

0.0 did you just say "worstest"?

DeadlyOreo3971d ago

The only thing worstest is your grammar.

Kingthrash3603971d ago (Edited 3971d ago )

Lol "worstest"
The internet has no grammer rules BTW<------(see.)

GarrusVakarian3971d ago

I noticed:

Something similar to BF4's battle-packs.
Similar movement to Titanfall.
Hammer of Dawn rip-off.
Killzone: SF 'OWL' rip-off.
Crysis-eqsue slide mechanic.
Crysis-esque cloak.

Did I miss anything?

With that said, I think this looks great. Looks fun, which is all I want from a CoD. I think I'll get this day one.

Patrick_pk443971d ago

That's what it's all about, ripping off other games. It has those cards that increase the power of stuff, which reminds me of the Titanfall cards/Battlefield packs. The movement is purely ported from Titanfall. And the exoskeleton was pure Crysis mechanics.

iamnsuperman3971d ago

Basically. Not a bad thing to do though.

GarrusVakarian3971d ago (Edited 3971d ago )

@Patrick

I wouldn't say the movement has been "purely" lifted from TF. The double jump is really the only thing they have ripped off.

Nonetheless, I agree that all they do is rip off other franchises. And to be honest, I don't really care. As long as my number one priority is fulfilled when I'm playing games (having fun), then I couldn't care less if they ripped off a hundred other games.

Swiftcricket3971d ago

Battlefield 4's levolution events.

sourav933971d ago

Spot on mate. I thought I was the only one who noticed the "battle-packs". Definitely looks fun though. But at the end of the day, the main difference between Titanfall and Advanced Warfare will be that with AW, 3 months after release, people will still be playing the game.

I kid I kid :P

TekoIie3971d ago (Edited 3971d ago )

Gotta be honest... It sounds fun but I think I'll wait till after release and see what people think.

@Swiftcricket

Lets keep it real Levolution was basically EA's flashy new term for map hazards.

truefan13971d ago

Titanfall gameplay with COD AW content would be fantastic. Either way I'm looking forward to COD a lot more than recent years.

DeadlyOreo3971d ago

Something I can agree with Truefan1 on. Who knew.

GarrusVakarian3971d ago

" Either way I'm looking forward to COD a lot more than recent years."

Same here. I haven't really been feeling this franchise since BLOPS, I skipped Ghosts altogether. I'm hoping AW brings the "spark" back for me, it's looking like it will, so I'm pretty excited for this one.

meetajhu3971d ago

Call of Duty: Advanced Ripoff

CertifiedGamer3971d ago (Edited 3971d ago )

For those of you saying it is titanfall clone, well EA didn't release it on PS4 and Activision is capitalizing on it so it is a new experience for PS4 players. I really find it more similar to Destiny, and Crysis than Titanfall but to each their own, the game looks great and is a new COD experience with real next-gen graphics.

turdburgler10803971d ago

What's funny is all the folks who bashed titan fall will pick this up and talk about how awesome it is without realizing they are playing a titan fall clone. I look forward to those comments.

isa_scout3971d ago

Just curious and I didn't disagree with your comment, but what part of AW did you think looked like Destiny? I see Halo and Mass Effect in Destiny but i didn't see anything resembling Destiny in that trailer.

CertifiedGamer3971d ago

isa_scout in the has the hover technique.

Magicite3971d ago

COD shouldnt copy any other game, it sells really well on its own behalf, actually theres little games nowadays that sell this good.

GW2123971d ago (Edited 3971d ago )

COD sells well BECAUSE it copies other games.

Again, nothing wrong with that. Why re-invent the wheel? I'm all for new experiences and all that, don't get me wrong. But sometimes I like playing a mindless shooter. Creators of COD are brilliant. They know they have cornered a large part of the gaming market and they capitalize on it year after year. Is the game always "good?" No, but they've created a benchmark FPS that is always being mentioned in comparison to other FPS games regardless of how good that year's iteration is.

Tell me, off the top of your head, the first three FPS franchises that come to mind. Most people would name COD in that three.

MuhammadJA3971d ago

Really? That's a shocker!

Herp a Derp article...

TBONEJF3971d ago

Now they are stealing ideas from the creators. I never play or like COD. same thing every year now they are taking ideas from someone else

BlackWolf123971d ago

Why? Because Titanfall came out first?

CoD:AW has been in development longer than Titanfall.

Even if they intentionally borrowed some game mechanics from titanfall, the gaming industry is alive and kicking today BECAUSE companies have been ripping ideas from each other for decades. If they didn't do that, the gaming industry would have died a long long time ago.

That is a shame. AW is my favourite CoD. I hope they do a sequel one day.

LordoftheCritics809d ago

Thoroughly enjoyed AW.

Good campaign and everything.

LOGICWINS809d ago

Same. Fantastic campaign, but I wasn't crazy about the jetpacks in multiplayer.

RaidenBlack809d ago

I still prefer CoD based on historical settings or in near future settings(like CoD: Ghost) ... even though I liked infinite Warfare's campaign ... it was top notch

CobraKai809d ago

I felt it was a good time to revisit WW2

porkChop809d ago

I actually really enjoyed WWII. I never understood the hate it got.

JEECE809d ago

A lot of people who never played a shooter prior to like 2012 get really mad about anything that isn't a modern combat game.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare remains the series' lone bright spot this gen

GR: "If one series truly defined the seventh generation of consoles it was Call of Duty. Sadly, the series has struggled to reach the same heights on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and only Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare feels like the previous era of innovation and top-notch storytelling."

I quite enjoyed it but I think black ops 3 was the high point.

Modern warfare could be if a few tweaks are made and the new maps are good.

Baza2058d ago (Edited 2058d ago )

Story wise.. black opps 3 was all over the place. Modern Warfare story is so much more cohesive and actually makes sense.

Immorals2058d ago

Black ops 3 was terrible. The story was absolutely atrocious.

Knushwood Butt2058d ago

I quit that campaign after about an hour. All I remember is some crappy robot drone combat R2D2 thing that you had to use. I didn't make it past that.

Epicor2057d ago

For me the Black Ops installations have always been the high peaks in terms of PVP mode. Black ops 3 campaign was pretty bad though. Advanced Warfare's campaign was pretty good, one of the best ones - but PVP was bad!

gamer92058d ago

LOL Advanced Warfare, too funny

2058d ago
Kabaneri2058d ago

The campaign was OK, but the guns sounded like cap guns and the multiplayer maps were not memorable at all.
