It's a step in the right direction for Capcom and Resident Evil as a series hopefully im still buzzin over the remaster news i've wanted this for a long long time.

scark923545d ago

Yes, hopefully they release what kind of Resident Evil fans want. I am not a fan of punching boulders.

Would this be the 2nd remaster of the original game? you had the original on PS1 and Saturn, then it was remastered for the Gamecube. It was also ported to the DS (not a bad port by the way). And now this.

It's like a movie that gets released, then several years later it gets remade and another several years it gets remade again.

Hopefully the remaster will sell well so that Capcom will realize that many gamers ARE still interested in horror games.

Darth Gamer3545d ago

They have my money on this one!!!!

ErazorDJ3545d ago

Next game, Resident Evil Zero HD

GusBricker3545d ago

They'd have to thaw Billy Coen out of deep freeze.

Knushwood Butt3545d ago

It's just Capcom milking games.

I don't understand why it has been met with such positive reactions.

Agent20093545d ago

Because not many people had a Gamecube/Wii to actually play the game? Because it's been more than 10 years since the original release, and it's a reasonable time to make an HD remaster of one of the best Resident Evil games that ever came out?

scark923545d ago

That is why I am excited

Hold_It3545d ago

It is met with postive reactive due to the fact that the new "Resident Evil" games are complete rubbish. It has been shown not only by sales but by the true Resident Evil fans.

For once they are doing something right, and the sales of this remaster will determine the future of the series. Hopefully they break away from the Gears of War gameplay and go back to being clunky, full of jump scares and limited ammo with insane backtracking.

'It is met with postive reactive due to the fact that the new "Resident Evil" games are complete rubbish.'.

Agreed.

ArtificiallyYours3545d ago (Edited 3545d ago )

It's just you being angry that Resident Evil is popular, I think.

Knushwood Butt3544d ago

I have the original game via PSN, which I can play on PSP, PS3, and Vita. Also played through the GC remake back in the day.

No anger, but no excitement either.

Having said that, I never bought 5 as I didn't like the demo, and 6 looked even worse; never played it in any form.

I'd rather they remake 2; I have it but have never really played it. Maybe that will be inevitable if Capcom sense some easy cash.

so happy for this now capcom please do a remake of resi 2 like what u did for re1 GC

Revengeance3545d ago

The sad part is their classics all the way up to early 2000s are still better than any of the new games they've put out in the past several years except for maybe SF4, RE4 and UMvC3.

Don't get me wrong I'm still getting this and any other remasters they do but it's sad when their new games are so bad their rereleases are what's going to be keeping them afloat.

Resident Evil HD Remaster receives a new AI-enhanced Texture Pack, improves more than 1600 textures

DSOGaming writes: "These past few weeks have been really interesting as we've seen some truly amazing AI-enhanced texture packs for older games. Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy 8, Final Fantasy 9, Half-Life, Max Payne, Morrowind and Doom are just a few of the games that got new high-quality textures that were produced via AI Neural Networks and today, modder ‘Shiryu’ released a new AI-enhanced Texture Pack for Resident Evil HD Remaster."

I'm not really convinced by this AI Neural Networks thing using this as an example. I know you can't ask for much when it comes to pre-rendered stuff, but you can barely see a difference with most of these. At its worst, there's an imperceptible difference. At its best, you can see it cleared up some jaggies and looks a liiiittle less blurry.

I will download it of course, but based on the screenshots, this doesn't improve things a whole lot.

It does make a difference. Mods in general are just awesome. They've helped make so many of my games look better. The HD reworked texture mods and other mods for The Witcher 3, for example, made it look way better.

dcbronco1905d ago

This may be small improvements now but it could be huge for gaming's future. AI with a ryzen based chip programmed to use the neural network to determine to the metal coding might allow programmers to focus on high level coding. That means games get done really fast and the budget goes into things like story and production. Once you have an ai that understands its given hardware it can decide how to run the code to maximize frames and resolution. AI will revolutionize gaming.
