Resident Evil Remakes: What About Outbreak?

Pixel Gate writes:

''With the announcement of yet another version of Resident Evil, the question popped up of which Resident Evil game truly deserved a remastering. There’s been a few remakes of early Resi games, most notably the ones that appeared on the Gamecube, but there’s one entry that always felt like it was out before its time. Online survival co-op horror with RPG elements and slight PvP features…Resident Evil: Outbreak always felt like it’s ambition was kept down by limitations of the time.''

It wasnt awful, just executed wrong

No voice chats which was a no no annd well the online aspect of it all wasn't really ready on the console.

that reminds me I still have both outbreak 1 and 2!

equal_youth3550d ago

i would say it was ahead of its time

Yui_Suzumiya3550d ago

Well said. Virtually no way to save was a horrible design choice. One of the first bosses I couldn't defeat or even injure so I gave up.

The only thing I ever hated about Outbreak is there was no use of the mics and even though everyone complained about that, Capcom STILL didn't add it in on Outbreak 2.

Resident Evil outbreak 1 and 2... Hell YES!!! I'm going to start the Fatal Frame trilogy soon while I'm at it I'm going to play Outbreak 1 and 2!!!

ScubaSteve13550d ago

Damn those games were the best. Too bad about the online. They would be useful today.

Good-Smurf3550d ago (Edited 3550d ago )

The game was ahead of its time...
I think this is THE game that they should remaster since there's still a lot they can improve on it being Fully 3D and everything.
Not to mention the co-op online multiplayer aspect of it,improve that and it's a sure hit!
While RE remake was already a classic and the best of what capcom back in the day and really can't improve much.
I think i was one of the people who petitioned for Outbreak file#3,years ago.

never played those games because pal versions didnt have online play.

would love a hd version, or even a vita version.

Yes. Either a remake like re2 remake. Or something original with the outbreak name. I've been playing hunt showdown, and I would love something like that but with a resident evil coat of paint..

CrimsonWing69508d ago (Edited 508d ago )

The time was right back when they started adding MP to the mainline entries. Hell, I have no idea why they won’t! I mean, instead we get bs like Umbrella Corps and RE:Verse… whoever is in charge of MP games over at Capcom must be stuck on stupid.

MrCrimson508d ago

yes, make items random, sort of like a metroidvania-

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH508d ago

If Capcom remade Outbreak it would most likely be free to play filled with MT’s. Just leave it dead.

Nothing this seems more in the vein of Operation Raccoon City so I'll be ignoring this one completely.

I highly enjoyed Operation Racoon City.

TheGamersGhost1698d ago

Definitely nothing wrong with that. Always good to hear when someone enjoys something!

I tried to enjoy it, but couldn't get past its flaws.
