Doom Hands-Off Preview – One Hell of an Old-School Rebirth | AusGamers

AusGamers had the chance to take a look at a hands-off preview of id Software's upcoming Doom title and has this to say:

While the live demo didn’t offer anything particularly novel to the FPS genre, it was refreshing to see Doom steer away from the faux-survival-horror gameplay of Doom 3 and back towards what made it feel awesome to play shooters back in the ’90s. If you’re a fan of the original games or old-school shooter mechanics, the first-look at Doom absolutely ticks the right boxes.

Agree, but now I want to see what the QuakeCon attendees got to see.

Awesome! I was praying Doom would drop the pretension and embrace the elements that made it work so well in the first place! Good good news! :D

So far what I have read sounds promising! Let us hope we get to see gameplay sooner than later.

I am also curious about ID tech 6. I thought I read awhile ago that John Carmack finished up work on the next iteration of ID tech before he left. Wonder what was added and fixed?

Glad to see the new doom returning to its roots but at the same time adding fresh melee executions among other features.

Twitter is blowing up right now

All games coming to PlayStation
Next Xbox will have steam
Next Xbox niche and only for “gamers who want it” (it’s a really powerful pc or a steam deck type portable, or both)
