Cole Jones of RPGamer writes: Disgaea is quite the thriving series. While most are lucky to see a sequel every few years, NIS has become near-legendary in their ability to turn out consistently solid Disgaea titles in what seems like rapid-fire succession. By the end of 2008, five separate Disgaea games will be available in the US; three of which will have been released within a year's time. Even with so much of the same, one entry stands out as the mysterious oddball of the bunch: Disgaea DS. As the first title to make its way onto a non-Sony platform, Disgaea DS has its work cut out for it. After spending a little time with the game at NIS' press event this last Thursday, I'm completely baffled at how NIS managed to fit so much game into such a tiny cart.
Today on COG Considers, we talk about cute demons doing hilariously evil things. Seriously, why do we love evil protagonists so much?
Disgaea main characters evil? Uh...Dood, the power of love and teaching compassion is pretty much the staple of this series. These aren't evil Diablo demons. This is a series that constantly pushes coexist with creatures from all realms living the life they were born into to the best of their ability. Any "evil" from the cast is purely slapstick and nothing more.
Except for Midboss, that guy is evil. Laharl was just a 1313 year old kid with Mommy issues.
A Disgaea Hour of Darkness Remake will launch in Spring 2018.
This is my favorite out of the series. Hopefully they add something extra to the remake.
Michibiku's Jenni Lada writes, "Disgaea is an established and respected series. The JRPG has set trends with its story and mechanics. After all, it’s one of the many founders of the whole “overlord antihero” stereotype. Its insane level caps and encouraging of massive damage outputs have made it an icon. It’s no wonder that the original game, Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, is on its fourth port."
Awesome more RPGs for the DS and Disgaea is a great series to have a version of
