The road to Unreal Tournament 3 has been an interesting one for Xbox 360 owners. Not only have they had to gaze with green-eyed longing at the PC and PlayStation 3 versions available since late last year, they've also had to endure a storm of uncertainty regarding the possibility of user-generated mods existing on the Xbox. While that particular question still remains unanswered, at least those patient 360 owners can look forward to seeing some new content when the port finally arrives this summer.
The most substantial addition to UT3 on the Xbox has to be the five new maps being offered. Like a travel guide with a Bio Rifle instead of a map, GameSpot recently spent some time in these new environments to see what they're all about.
Opinion is divided on this one for sure! Is motion blur good for gaming? Why do developers include it?
I hate any game that has motion blur and the first thing I do is switch off the motion blur in games. It just makes me nauseous.
I agree with Alex here, many implementations are terrible but when it is done right it improves the experience.
Alex from GamersFTW writes:
“In all seriousness though, I feel like DOOM’s success will be measured by how much the game has to offer. Graphically it’s looking spectacular, and I’m sure the latest multiplayer trailer caught all of our attention. Personally, the game is beginning to remind me of those late nights playing Unreal Tournament 3, which is totally a good thing. This, in addition to the promise of user-generated content, is making DOOM look like the best first-person shooter I’ve seen in ages.”
The campaign looks brilliant, like a true nostalgia trip to the original DOOM titles of old! The multiplayer equally looks like a trip down memory lane to fast-paced and frantic arena games a-la Quake, and honestly the MP REALLY makes me want to the get game at launch to capitalise on the hype. Problem is I'm not overly fussed with multiplayer typically in games, they can get weary after a while, and buying a game solely for its MP is risky - especially on console - as it's heavily dependant on the community!
Rock to my left, hard place to my right..
EDIT: On the MP note, does anyone know if it'll have bots available, similar to Unreal Tournament 3? I still give that a quick play time to time with bots (and all the mad mutators).
Its basically a "console" ahead, in terms of graphics, of another shooter called Homefront thats getting ready to release. LOL
Great selections as always and they are...
Final Fantasy
Metal Gear Solid
Super Smash Bros.
Crypt of the Necrodancer
Unreal Tournament
Advance Wars
Payday 2
i refuse to believe that 360 owners were green-eyed over unreal tournament
maybe some other due to be released games maybe and visa versa for us ps3 owners but not unreal they had plenty to bide their time with
Not buying it.. They had their chance back when they did the other platforms, now it is just too late. If this version has a bunch of new features then fine, but it seems unlike when the other platforms get games months later they have major improvements, this is just the same 'ol game and in fact it sounds like the most gimped of all with no MOD Support beyond the feable attempt Epic/MS will do with providing them via downloads.
EDIT:
"To make up for it, the game will be shipping with all of the downloadable content from the PS3 and PC versions as well as five exclusive levels, two exclusive characters and exclusive full 2-player split screen support."
I didn't see that but still not enough to sell me.
I honestly don't think that a lot of 360 owners will be buying Unreal Tournament 3 because they may feel that the are getting "PS3 or PC leftovers", but I'm sure that some 360 owners will be buying Unreal Tournament 3 for the simple fact that it's a FPS.
But I'm glad that the PS3/PC version came out first because a game in which development was lead on the PS3 always turn out better for both the 360 and PS3. More developers need to start making the PS3 the lead platform for development when releasing Multiplatform games or developers need to start developing a Multiplatform game specifically for the PS3 and specificially for the Xbox 360 because they can bring out the best in both consoles because most of the time when a 360 game is ported to the PS3, a lot of the quality is lost.
oh is this the left over of PC/PS3 version ?
what's the point? If you love living with the unreal engine only.
Without mods like the crazy stuff from ps3 open network you will be waiting to trade this game in for store credit!
I thought this debate was settled when you guys found out it was going to be ported?
