Dean from TGR takes a look at the latest ARCHOS gaming tablet, and finds a decent product which doesn't quite hit all the right notes.
The Archos GamePad 2 is the French company’s second attempt at making an Android gaming tablet. The first GamePad was a disaster in so many ways. From the cheap look, buggy software and the lack of Android games that could truly benefit from physical controls.
And a bad one too. Those sticks and D-pad dont look good to use and would not fit in my pockets.
I'm not a fan of this, but it's a tablet, it's not supposed to fit in your pocket.
Looks interesting but there is only a small market for something like this and I don't see it selling in its millions.
They should have made their own Proprietary OS for this device rather than embracing the Android platform, which is in my opinion is kinda shame cause this device won't have it's own identity cause it will be just similar to other Android tabs in the market, the only advantage would be the physical buttons..
Maximum PC: Archos on Monday unveiled its GamePad 2, the company's second generation handheld tablet made for gamers. The Archos 2 features a 7-inch HD (1280x800) In-Plane Switching (IPS) display powered by an A9 generation quad-core processor built on a 28nm manufacturing process and clocked at 1.6GHz. The CPU is coupled with a quad-core Mali 400 graphics processor and 2GB of system RAM.

And that sums up the review of just about every Archos product in history! They have great ideas, but can never execute them properly, and then someone else comes and does it better
