Final Fantasy Creator’s Next Game Probably Named Terra Battle, Possibly a Mobile Game

Final Fantasy’s dad Hironobu Sakaguchi is going to unveil his next game on Wednesday during a conference at Japan Expo, and there are good news and (arguably) bad news.

Ughhhh! Mobile! You're too good for that Sakaguchi...

Abriael4011d ago

*sighs*

I can't believe I hoped.

sinjonezp4011d ago

Everyone wanted a ff7 remake...thats all we asked for. And what did we get over the last 10 years?.....no comment.

Concertoine4011d ago

Sakaguchi doesn't work for Square Enix, he isn't in the position to make a FF7 remake. He's been making his own RPG's with his own company, Mistwalker.

BattleN4011d ago

Nintendo is said to have 3 more secret exclusive projects in the works, so it would be nice if this guys work was in one of those 3!

porkChop4011d ago

OMG people, stop making stupid mobile games! The amount of sheer talent being wasted today on cheap mobile games is unbelievable.

-Foxtrot4011d ago (Edited 4011d ago )

What a waste of good talent

The man behind the Final Fantasy series reduced to making games on mobiles.

Mistwalker should get their act together and make a multiplatform (or exclusive if they need funding) RPG franchise which is like the old school Final Fantasy games. Something to shove in Square Enixs face to say "THIS...is how you do a Final Fantasy game"

The turn base combat worked in Lost Odyssey so it's obviously not out dated, it just needs to have a faster peace so we can get in/out of battles quicker.

porkChop4011d ago

If Mistwalker can get back the rights to Lost Odyssey I just want them to go all out and make a sequel, prequel, reboot or whatever. Make it multiplatform to maximize profits, and stick it to Square Enix. That was one of the best JRPGs I've played since the early FF games. One of the only games to ever make me literally shed tears (dem short stories).

karlowma4011d ago

Many an awkward moment between my then-roommate and I, walking in on each other wiping away tears while playing through Lost Odyssey!

Great, and greatly underrated, game.

-Foxtrot4011d ago (Edited 4011d ago )

Yeah, I honestly don't see why they stuck it on the 360 if they wanted sales. JRPG's and the Xbox just don't mix.

I know he had beef with Sony but that's where his main audience is.

It was the true Final Fantasy 13 game of last gen

They did everything better, everything you would expect to see in a FF game. Even the theme song...Square got crappy manufactured X factor winner Leona Lewis for the theme song, Mistwalker got bloody Sheena Easton to do What You Are, which is beautiful song and fits the style of the game. Leona Lewis song for FF13 was just a new song since for the first time they didn't do a English version of the Japanese song.

Oh and don't forget Jansen, the funniest JRPG character in a long time.

Concertoine4011d ago (Edited 4011d ago )

It's not so much that they don't want to make console/handheld games... like many Japanese developers they are almost forced to the mobiles because of increasingly large development costs on consoles and diminishing returns.

Mistwalker's financial status has been in question for a while, i wouldn't be surprised if their moneymaker is something on a mobile with "from the creator of Final Fantasy" plastered on the cover.

Edit: The reason they were on 360 is because MS funded it as part of their Japanese push. Same with The Last Story on wii i think.

People in Japan Nowadays buy/play Mobile Game Than Console Game

RDF4011d ago (Edited 4011d ago )

Not going to happen. With the multiplats I mean. He not a big fan of Sony. Thats why his last games were on the 360 and Wii. I know I read his reasons for not releasing on the PS3. I need to look it up.

CDbiggen2910d ago

Gemmol2910d ago

JunMei2910d ago

I don't really care. Sakaguchi san, all of your console games have been amazing! Please take your talented group of people and make more proper games, again!

Considering his last game was on the Wii I wouldn't mind if it came on the Switch, hell im sure making a game on the Switch would be a cheaper option for him since he doesn't have the Square budget anymore.

TheOttomatic912911d ago

Sakaguchi doesn't seem to have a lot of faith in console gaming and that's not surprising considering he lives in Japan but I really hope he changes his stance and if Terra Battle is successful in console we get more of his games on them.
