HD Release of Another World Was Made Using Amiga Editor

The new release will utilize the full HD rendering capabilities of the newer consoles, with improved background art, high-quality anti-aliasing, and smoother animation. In an interview with PlayStation.Blog, the game’s designer Eric Chahi explained that tweaking the animation was particularly tricky, requiring that he go back to the original editing tools made for Commodore Amiga computers.

I dont think people realize how ahead of its time this game was. I remember a friend showing it to me on his Amiga, when it released and I couldnt believe what I was seeing. The cinematic story telling, leading into a game that looked just as good... Paved the way for 3D gaming, long before it was an option. This was the first game, in my memory, that used polygons as opposed to the days sprites. The storytelling was the first of its kind, bringing a hollywood flair(woooooo) to gaming.

To this day, it looks like a next gen game. Even in its original Amiga form. It is so cool that they are redoing the animation, using the original editor. That just shows how forward thinking, the game and the code powering it, were.

I just wish that Sony allowed 4K games, because this is the first I would love to see get the UHD treatment. Cant wait to play this again and for those who never got a chance, or werent old enough to remember it, to enjoy everything it has to offer. You can see shades of the cinematic nature of this game, in almost every game we play to this very day.

This game pretty much sold the Amiga to the gaming public in the UK/Europe. I remember the news on TV showing that opening cinematic. It really did blow people's minds back then.

Great game too, but hard and unforgiving.. only finished it once and even then I had help from my brother.

Amiga in it's day really was something special and as has been said was ahead of it's time, many fond memories

Deluxe paint 2 sold me and was saving for an Amiga 1000 when the Amiga 500 was anounced, the things it did at the time were unheard of on a home computer while taking gaming to a whole new level. Defender of the crown and marble madness my first two games.

The Amiga took away many years from me.... Cannon Fodder, Speedball, Sensi, Kick off, Championship Manager... Megalomania.... Populous, Powermonger, Damocles.... many, many more...., oh Lemmings!!! A different but wonderful time.

I see some with Amiga memories here.... What is best Emulator? UAE?

Thanks Barb, will check it out... Desert Strike too... memories are flooding back. Rainbow Islands put to shame anything on a console....

I use UAE but I did buy this back in 2010, works beautifully. http://www.amigaforever.com...

As for other games.. Midwinter, Starglider 2, Defender of the Crown, IT! Came from the Desert, Rainbow Islands, Hunter (an old Activision game that was amazing back in the day), Kick-Off, Sensible Soccer, Batman the Movie, Robocop..

Awesome memories..

what blew my mind was I got the game's intro as an executable on my Atari ST. All that intro animation was compressed into a ridiculously small size (10K I think?)

UAE is the most complete emulator, but I have problems with it

I had both a commadore64 and Amiga.. Some great games that I have fond memories of.
