A common phenomena among video games is the unwavering need to ground the most absurd premise in some sort of half-assed reality. As many gamers grew up with the medium, developers countered growing cynicism by giving any game with a gun a believable or grounded reason to shoot it.

This isn’t that kinda game. Sunset Overdrive is comfortable in the fact that it’s simply a video game, and Insomniac’s self awareness results in a vibrant, loud, fast-paced, and most importantly, fun video game that never tries to do anything, but entertain you in a genuine way.
