Why I'm Excited for No Man's Sky

Evan Narcisse of Kotaku writes: "The game that got me and a lot of other people the most hyped this E3 is getting built by less than a dozen people. And, to my mind, No Man's Sky has totally screwed with the idea of what it means to be a Big Game."

For me this was the PS4 game that stold the show!

Abash4019d ago

LittleBigPlanet 3 stole the show for me, but even so, No Man's Sky still looks like all kinds of amazing

amiga-man4019d ago (Edited 4019d ago )

I tend to agree with Multiconsolegamer on this one, there are many great games coming from Sony with bigger budgets and fantastic graphics, but those are pretty much expected, this one came as a total surprise and because of that for me it was one of the highlights of E3

darthv724019d ago

when it was first revealed (not too long ago) it had my curiosity. After seeing how much it has improved, it has my attention.

And the beauty is, it was done by such a small team. I love it when a plan comes together.

UltraNova4018d ago

It looks incredible yes but how will it keep the players interest while seemingly trying to explore the universe? Will there be some kind of a story? Missions? Will it just be mindless/pointless exploration and shooting stuff?

Too many questions...It has to keep you interested in one way or another or this game as alluring and fresh as it might look will flop badly and I for one would hate to see that, we need games like this, you know new ideas unbound by corporate profit margins.

Timesplitter144019d ago

Are you seriously trying to turn this thread into a console war?

No_Limit4019d ago

I agreed, this game is my favorite game from the Sony E3 for me!

TOTSUKO4018d ago (Edited 4018d ago )

I was happy to see a dedicated indie developer to get an opportunity to show their game and steal the show. You can even see how emotional he got on stage. So happy for him and his team.

Indie developers would sell their kidney to make video games. Props to Sony for giving indie developers the chance to show off their hard work on the big stage.

threefootwang4018d ago

Well said! I saw this and hands down (in my mind) won E3. The sheer scope of this game, especially for an indie game mind you, is incredible!

Interesting and very colorful, how I'd love to see shooters.

Illusive_Man4019d ago (Edited 4019d ago )

I'm glad it is a only a timed exclusive and will be on Xbox One. Thank you.

Team Xbox - Join up!

grashopper4019d ago

I was terrified when MS was offering support after their office flooded. Didn't want to see it go exclusive. Good to see everyone will get to play it. Looks stunning.

lonelyplayer4019d ago

What about the parity clause?

reaperofsouls4019d ago (Edited 4019d ago )

parity clause, yes, even though technically it not an exclusive the parity clause will prevent going to the xbone unless they do yet another 180

Livecustoms4019d ago

Not trying to start a console war, but why would anyone want to currently join 'TeamXbox' Unless you like halo ? We've currently got the Destiny Alpha and Battlefield Hardline Beta...

ziggurcat4019d ago (Edited 4019d ago )

i'm pretty sure that the parity clause prevents it from coming to xbox if it's out on another system first...

No_Limit4018d ago (Edited 4018d ago )

I think you are right Illision_Man,

I think the parity is either gone or it has been modified to allow the hits to also come to XB1.

-Warframe is coming to Xbox one
-And 1001 Spikes was released on PS4 first, and it is coming to XB1.
-Also Oddworld New 'n Tasty will be on Xbox One later this year

The "debuting on console on PS4" quote pretty much gave it away.

Great news indeed. Everyone should be able to enjoy this potential awesome game.

mkis0074018d ago (Edited 4018d ago )

Those games all had deals in place before id@xbox was announced...which is allowed in the parity clause.

That said we will know if ms has really changed if they dont allow this game on xbox one and do away with the parity clause.

SoulSercher6204018d ago

Of course you wouldn't have played this game if it wasn't on Xbox One :)

DigitalRaptor4017d ago

That's a nice story.... bro.

I dread to wonder how many of your comments we'd see in No Man's Sky articles of you downplaying and criticising the game you were yet to play. Probably an overwhelming amount. There's no way you were going to care about this game, unless is was on Xbone.

Still, this is a "Sony-signed" game so don't get your hopes up too soon. It may end up biting you in the ass.

TekoIie4017d ago

Not sure what you mean by "Sony-signed".

Hello Games have actually said they are "super interested" in releasing it on PC. Gotta say it seems like a game which would benefit greatly from mod support.

DigitalRaptor4017d ago (Edited 4017d ago )

By that I mean Shahid Ahmad of Sony signed a contract with Hello Games for this game: https://twitter.com/Migh_an...

And none of us truly know the terms of that was other than "console exclusive", so it most likely will be on PC at some point. All I can imagine now though, is the team experimenting with Oculus and Morpheus. This could change everything: http://vrfocus.com/archives...

Any idea when it releases? This might hold me over till Star Citizen launches.

thorstein4019d ago

Whenever Star Citizen launches ;P

Brettman20084019d ago

Presumably 2015, like most other games.

Snowb4204019d ago

Excited for this game. Hope to hear more about what we'll be doing besides gathering resources and flying around.

No Man's Sky (Switch 2) - Hello Games' Classic Without Cuts Or Concessions | NintendoLife

"No Man's Sky - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition brings this excellent, constantly evolving space survival adventure to your new Nintendo console in fine style. This is an almost-perfect match for other versions of the game, barring some very minor hiccups here and there.

Combat is still a bit naff, especially in space, and hardcore pirates might not get all they need from the systems in place here, but other than that, this is an almost perfect port of an almighty behemoth of a game. The sky, it seems, really has no limits." - PJ O'Reilly | NintendoLife

I am tempted to get the switch 1 version.

OtterX3d ago

Do it! It's still on sale until next week, then score your free upgrade.

It's so nice being able to continue our save from other platforms while on the go. (For me, PS5, PC & VR) I'm headed out of town this weekend and I plan on taking it with me. :)

That's a nice little surprise.

Honestly I gotta hand it to Hello Games. They really turned this game into something else with their dedication to it. A rocky start, but the game is unrecognizable to what we had at launch.

MAN, Hello Games just keeps on trucking with this game, and are REALLY showing other developers how to earn some good will with their fans.

Stoked for Light No Fire.
