Listen up folks, 'cause I've got some dirt on the Public Beta for SOCOM: US Navy SEALs Confrontation! We're not quite ready to say when it will come out, but let's just say that it's gonna be a hot summer... better to spend it inside, just in case.
There'll be a couple of ways to get in. One will be through a radically different pre-order program (think 'team') the team is working on with one of our retailer friends. It's currently in planning mode, but I should have some more info soon. Trust me-- all you clan guys are going to love it. Stay tuned.
The second option will be to go through Qore: Presented by PLAYSTATION®Network, SCEA's new interactive monthly program. It goes up for purchase and download on the PLAYSTATION®Store on June 5th. Subscribers to Qore will get the opportunity to participate in the Public Beta when it's available, but you can occupy your time watching some of the cool SOCOM behind-the-scenes videos that will come exclusively with Qore.
I see a lot of talk on the forums and comments about how this person or that person is the biggest and baddest SEAL around. Soon, you're going to get a chance to put your money where your mouth is!
Last year I wrote an article titled, The State of SOCOM. I discussed my
love and history for the beloved third person shooter that helped pioneer
online multiplayer on consoles. It has been six years since we last had a
new SOCOM game.
Baffles me as to why they have not done anything with this franchise. Seeing as how it was #1 on the official PlayStation poll.
With all the trash put up weekly on the App Store why has nobody done a clone of this yet. I've been playing Defiance as my go to 3rd person since 2013 but still nothing like that old school Socom/Socom 2 up all night gameplay.
the only game on that list that's like socom is wild land if you want socom type games then you will have to invest in a PC
RAINBOW SIX: is the closest you'll get to Socom.
Also, in response to @lookatthisi
They let go the creators, and I think socom is a game that's hard to clone even the creators had a hard time making Socom 2, Socom 3.

"Would you purchase a game you can’t play for a single penny? Video game retailer GameStop seems to think that it is worth trying to sell to this market."
Depends the situation. Usually if they have a trade in X and get Y bonus for preowned purchases, a store will let you have the excess credit if you make 1 purchase and 1 cent is cheap enough where I wouldn't have to bother returning it or eating the cost out of laziness.
Stan replied passionately, sadness creasing his face, “they’re shutting us down. Offline, man, off-fucking-line. I dedicated my life to this, and it’s just ending. This is the last battle.” - PSLS
MAG will be missed, my all-time favorite shooter. They're shutting servers down in January.
I'll probably take the pre-order option if that's available. Isn't this a PSN title? Id be happy to pay the full price now, get the beta when released then just download the game when released. Like Steam (PC) say.
Everyone's happy :)
*Nice find big_tim*
and by that I mean Europeans get in for free
im in 4 sure
I have to get qore now
That's the real story, I can't beleive this is the first time I've heard of it. I think its worth the price, as long as the keep up to date content but it shouldn't be as bad as magazines. waiting for a month to find out what happened three months ago.
I think Socom is going to be the flagship shooter for the ps3. The game keeps looking better and better each time I see it. The only concern I have is the use of the sixaxis motion, I have to use it before I make my own opnion. Everything else is aces.
